Rudraksha A divine bead to human community provided by the Supreme Power “Lord Shiva”. The Lord Shiva from his tear created it. “At the time of the universal deluge and destruction of all things, my eyes were opened for thousand deva years (one human year = 1 day of deva year). In that period, the tears from my eyes dropped in some places of earth, and produced Rudraksha trees”. This is the message of Lord Shiva to saint Bujandar (Rudraksha Jabalopanishad).
It is a symbol of spirituality and mystic power. It is having electromagnetic power and it affects both the physical and logical body of the human being while it is on the body.
Botanically it is known as Elaeocarpus Ganitrus Roxb. It is nearly spherical in shape. The clefts on the surface of the beads are called faces. Faces vary from 1 to 38. Rudraksha trees are mainly found in South Asian Islands, Nepal, India and Other parts.

Yogis and monks are wearing the rudraksha beads to acquire distinguish tremendous quantity of concentration. Apart from this, they get resistance power from this. It regulates and formulates our conscious, sub-conscious, body and shapes our overall personality. Though the rudrakshas are having 1 to 38 faces, the very common is 5 faceted. But, each type is having its own characteristics. Yogis, monks and researchers use them for various purposes.
Size of Rudraksha referred in Upanishad
a. If the size of the rudraksha is as amla fruit is considered as the best size.
b. If it is as the size of jujuba fruit is considered as better size.
c. Below the above sizes are not advisable.
The very good auspicious rudraksha is having inherent hole and a gold line on it.
Procedures to be followed to wear Rudraksha:
The non-defective rudrakshas are selected and they should be tied by silk thread. Chanting mantra for rudraksha is “Om Namah Shivaya”. We can wear the rudraksha on a morning, after taking bath and chanting “Om Namah Shivaya”, a minimum of 108 times. Any one, irrespective of sex, age, and religious background can wear rudraksha. Women should avoid these beads during the few days of menstruation.
Importance of Wearing Rudraksha:
1. You shall not interchange the Rudraksha Mala with anyone. 2. It has electrical and magnetic properties which enhances when worn with metals like silver, gold, copper. 3. Rudraksha improves the concentration level and as well as improve the memory of the person wearing it. 4. All Rudraksha beads have the same power.
5. One can feel the changes in himself and his attitude towards life after 40 days of wearing it. 6. Rudraksha can be kept well cleaned and oiled.
7. Rudraksha can be kept in ones pooja room or house to get positive energy flow in their house.
PUJA OF RUDRAKSHA
Rudraksha is a divine bead and it bestows all sorts of spiritual , mental & Physical benefits to its wearer . However ,in order to get maximum benefits from Rudraksha it needs to be sanctified & energized also known as Pran Prathista prior to its use for the first time. This Pran Prathista may be done by the wearer himself, or else one can take the services of a the Guru or the priest of a temple for this procedure Choose an auspicious day - Monday.Wash Rudraksha with unboiled milk and water. Apply sandalwood paste on it. Offer Incense and flowers.Chant "Om Namah Shivaya" 108 times. Chant the specific mantra of the mukhis at least 9 times
