When we consolidated around the Thanksgiving dessert table for a slice of delicious Apple pie, we all attempted to grab the dominate slice over the others. Somehow the pie was not as great tasting as we anticipated. The texture as well was off, as if it was a thin rubber. We decided to cut into the pie to examine the base of each pie slice. It appeared that the people who escorted the pie to the house we gathered in, managed to bring a counterfeit cinnamon pie used for display purposes. We had to wait as my grandmother taught my distant cousin who was docile to create an official Apple Pie. The Pie was… burnt. That was my fictional anecdote over at my Thanksgiving collaboration.…

When the Pilgrims crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 1620, they landed on the rocky shores of a territory that was inhabited by the Wampanoag (Wam pa NO ag) Indians. The Wampanoags were part of the Algonkian-speaking peoples, a large group that was part of the Woodland Culture area. These Indians lived in villages along the coast of what is now Massachusetts and Rhode Island. They lived in round- roofed houses called wigwams. These were made of poles covered with flat sheets of elm or birch bark. Wigwams differ in construction from tipis that were used by Indians of the Great Plains.…

I partially agree with your statement. Dudley and Stephens’s actions can be forgiven, but not forgotten. Going through starvation can be really dire and a struggle for many people, but the fact of intentionally slaughtering a person to death due to lack of food to survive in order to eat can be very devastating and sorrow simultaneously. I do moderately agree that they did not want to make the decision to murder the man, however, then again wanted to do it because of his health status and they thought it would be ethical to murder the man to save lives.…

Carving the 22lb bird, stirring the creamy homemade mashed potatoes, and creating memories with loved ones are some of the magnificent things about the Thanksgiving season. But how did Thanksgiving become what it is today? According to History.com, 1621 was when the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. Tradition is something I have seen die out through my life. As I have gotten older, traditions have become less important. I believe this is one of the biggest problems in our society today, and I think this has direct correlation with our weakening morals. The most important tradition still in my life is probably Thanksgiving dinner. Every year Thanksgiving is held at my grandparent's house and we eat the same food every time. The same family members are always there and there are always beautiful decorations placed around the house. This tradition fits Glassie's definition because this is a part of history for my family and I, and how we celebrate Thanksgiving now shapes how we will celebrate is in the future. Our family's culture is shaped…

Sometimes my anxiety or trepidation about an upcoming event is often worse than the actual event. That is precisely what happened with Thanksgiving. It turned out to be a nice, relaxing day. Thanksgiving: Then and Now Americans love Thanksgiving. Let's face it. They love eating, and they love football. But, where did this holiday come from? Actually, the tradition of Thanksgiving dates back to the time before our country's birth. Modern day Thanksgiving represents a time where Americans gather together with their friends and family. It is a time of year where people are thankful for being blessed with these friends and family. The first Thanksgiving was also a gathering where its participants gave their thanks for what they were fortunate enough to have. The Pilgrims are credited with organizing the first Thanksgiving after they arrived in America. It was a celebration of a bountiful harvest. Both the early and modern Thanksgiving centered around a feast consisting of a variety of foods. There are few other similarities to discuss aside from these. Overall, there is a sharp contrast between the first Thanksgiving held nearly 400 years and the Thanksgiving that Americans now celebrate in modern times.…
