Thank You M Am, By Langston Hughes

Helping others is an important thing to do because there are many positive effects for everyone. This is clearly evident as shown by the short story “Thank You M’am” by Langston Hughes, the magazine article “Community Service and You” by T. J. Saftner and the magazine article “Feeding Frenzy” by Peter Ames Carlin and Don Sider. In the story “Thank You M’am”, Hughes states how Mrs. Jones helps Roger even though he had done her wrong. The text states, “‘ I would teach you right from wrong. Least I can do right now is to wash your face. Are you hungry?’” (88). This shows how Mrs. Jones was nice enough not punish Roger and instead help him by feeding him, washing his face, and providing him with money to buy new shoes. In the end, Roger is thankful
