Thalidomide is a drug that was to be prescribed to treat anxiety, tension and gastritis and insomnia. It was also used to relieve morning sickness in pregnant women. Thalidomide is used to known as someone whose arm and leg are wrongly shape because their mother taken it when she was pregnant. Thalidomide made affected over 10,000 babies word wide during that time were born with missing or abnormal limbs, hands, feet, absent ears, and heart. Thalidomide was first developed by a German pharmaceutical company in 1957 and withdrawn in the UK around in 1960s.
