Tests In The Military
The military has a very streamlined and detailed process for processing new recruits into vacant jobs. Their process involves a physical examination to assess their individual ability to physically perform the job. It is also involves an extensive aptitude test for both enlisted an officers. This test focuses on a variety of areas to include mechanical knowledge, technological knowledge, cognitive and analytical ability, and other important areas for performance related to various jobs. The test is graded in all the areas individually. The scores are examined against possible jobs available. Each job had minimum standards for each tested area. FI an individual fails to meet one of the minimal requirements they are not qualified for the job. They always have the chance to retake the test and rise their score to the ore desirable level if they desire a specific job. Enlisted members may take the test several times. While officers are most often limited to two tries. If someone decides at any point during their career that they want to switch to a different career field the above rules still apply. They will not be put there based on time in the military, but based on their qualifying test scores. …show more content…
These are supposed to be factored into the job offering that the recruiter shows the potential recruit. However, I don’t know of many people who have actually experienced this. I often find that the recruiter bases job selection off of the ability test and not off of the personality test. I think that this a big mistake, and it is reflective with the high rates of people not reenlisting or staying for full careers. Most often people are sold on a job that the recruiter needs filled even though they don’t have a personality that fits the culture and attitude of their

    While working in the Financial Aid field I have had the privilege of working with a number of different individuals of diverse backgrounds. I have come across people from all walks of life, including those with severe disabilities, individuals with limited resources, and even individuals with different cultural and ethical backgrounds. Each encounter has been unique in its own way with learning experiences that I have carried with me through my years of employment. Additionally when growing up I grew up in a very diverse area and have had personal experiences with working with people of various ethnicities, social, economical and physical backgrounds. Through the years I have learned to never judge a book by its cover and have learned that working with different types of people may have its challenges at times, but it is never impossible to work with different types of people regardless of their backgrounds. Just alike the other educators and students across the nation, Tom is tired of the system. The educational system today is made up of many standardized tests. Standardized tests are tools designed to allow measure of student performance relative to all others taking the same test. Standardized tests are bad for many reasons. They cause teachers to limit their curriculum, put low-level income and minority students at a disadvantage, cause school districts to focus too heavily on raising test scores, and extract the passion for learning from students. It used to be a part of life, but now it’s causing kids not to go to college, and it’s causing kids to have a level of stress that shouldn’t even be allowed. People all over are stating that they give a false overview of who the student actually is, and in the end, these tests won’t get you anywhere in life. It’s important to many people including students who are taking the tests, teachers who are preparing the students for these tests and of course the parents who have to deal with all the complaints from their child about these tests. This is a pretty important issue today, because so much is riding on these tests. If you do poorly you won’t get accepted to the university you want, or your teacher could get fired because of your performance. Although some people think standardized testing is just a part of life and it teaches students that it’s not okay to fail, these tests give a false interpretation of who the student actually is. One score does not tell you if that person is an outstanding individual or not. A student could guess on every question and still perform well.
