Spielberg recommended Williams to his friend George Lucas, who needed a composer for Star Wars. Williams delivered a grand symphonic score in the style of Hollywood's swashbucklers of the 1930s and 1940s. The soundtrack is still the best-selling non-pop record of all-time - and Williams won another Oscar for Best Original Score. He was also nominated for the follow-up scores for The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. The Star Wars soundtrack is one of the most recognizable music score. Believe it or not he has not actually watched any of the Star Wars movies. He also composed the movies Jaws’ score, which earned him an Academy Award, his second win and first for Original Score,[1] and was later ranked the sixth greatest score by the American Film Institute. The main shark theme became a classic piece of suspense music, it made people terrified of going into the water. He spent two months writing more than 50 minutes of music for the movie and recorded with a 73-piece orchestra. People can recognize it almost immediately when they hear…

Lyrical instruments such as the horn, strings and winds fixed the themes melody delicately. Which usually have a sparkling effect while escorted by rapid, tremolo high up in the strings. This provides a thoughtful or defenseless sound to the theme. The trumpets and trombones give the melody a brash and forceful tone in its militaristic setting. However, there is a hefty addition in the remanding orchestra that advocates the passionate mass of the condition that is influenced. The power of these statements of the theme are typically reinforced by the usage of dissonant harmony which can be found in “The Battle of Yavin.” The overall shape of the films plot regulates the presence of these two main kinds of orchestration. Early in the movie Luke is unsure if he will turn out to be the hero which the rebellion so urgently desires, therefore the extra contemplative forms of the “Force theme.” Luke starts to act more like a hero when he learns the ways of the Force with Obi-Wan so we begin to hear the more loud military form of this theme. The final battle with the Death Star is where we can really listen to…

In the music sequence whenever the shark is near or attacking it has its own theme tune which is made to build tension because when you hear that music you know it's the shark and that something is obviously going to happen although at some parts of the movie it does trick you by playing the music but nothing really exciting happens. Two other examples of music or silence is used to scare the audience to build tension is when the radio is playing on the beach then after the attack its silent and when all the characters at the beginning are sat round a fire and music is playing cheerfully which contrasts on what we all know is about to happen.…

Examining how the opening credits are presented, there are two striking elements that are being portrayed; the choice of music and the choice of narrative. In regards to the first constituent, music, the choice landed on a piece of immoderate dramatic quality. The reasoning behind this is most likely because of the effect a tune of this kind has on the audience. It draws you in and evokes feelings of excitement, triggering the adrenal glands. Furthermore, with Casablanca being a propagandist film set in a time of highly dramatic events, one is not oblivious to the factor of this element’s importance. It has to draw you in order for it to be an effective form of propaganda.…

It can be used in the background for less important moments or in the foreground for more dramatic effects. When watching a scene with music compared to one without, then it is obvious how music allows the audience to feel the scene differently. Music intensify parts of a film by showing the feelings of the characters. It sets up scenes and can affect how the audience reacts to the film based on the tempo of the music. The Force Awakens uses music to help the audience follow the story, and helps the audience identify with the different scenes, characters and action sequences. The grand music in the opening of the film leads to dramatic action for the beginning of the film. The deep dark musical scores “The Abduction” and “Snoke” the mastermind of evil captures the dark path the film is moving. With deep dark male voices when Snoke is in any scene fills us with fear and anxiety. In contrast, the “March of the Resistance” music uses loudness and energy to signal the good guys on the way to help. Neil Z. Yeung states “From the opening crawl of the film to the abrupt cut away of the closing credits, John Williams' soundtrack to The Force Awakens does not disappoint.” The music transfers between each part of the film. Giving the audience audio cues to know which direction the film is heading next. “Follow Me” is fast and loud that relates to the action sequences in…

“Like I’m Gonna Lose You” by Meghan Trainor reflects the overall mood of the play and the main characters that go along with it. I chose this to be a theme song because it displays Romeo and Juliet’s star-crossed love as Shakespeare describes it in the preface, ”A pair of star-crossed lovers” (0.0.6), where they do not know when they will never be able to see each other again. I also noticed how in the lyrics of the song there is a repetition of saying goodbye multiple times throughout the song. I believe that this is similar to Romeo and Juliet’s love because they were constantly saying goodbye for many reasons, like Romeo’s banishment or hiding from their parents because they did not know when the next they were going to see each other was…

The movie begins with the interrupted marriage of William Turner and Elizabeth Swann. The music’s first role in this movie is to reflect emotion. In the opening scene, Elizabeth is kneeling at the altar where her wedding should have taken place. Rain is falling all around her and she is alone. Violins are playing a sad, slow melody. The viewer realizes that something awful has happened. Deeper strings start to play a fast marching beat and a male choir begins to sing. This signifies that the Royal Navy is approaching to arrest Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. Lord Cutler Beckett had ordered the couple to be arrested and sentenced to death for aiding in Captain Jack Sparrow’s escape in the previous movie. Lord Cutler Beckett will only lift the charges in exchange for Jack Sparrow’s compass. William Turner is sent off to find Jack Sparrow. He is reluctant to leave his future bride behind in prison, but it is his only chance to free her.…
