Tel-Comm-Tek
Tel-Comm-Tek seems to be great company. In reading this article it shows how the company really cares about the employees by wanting to hire from within. When a company like TCT incorporates those policies and procedures, it makes the employee have more confidence in job security. The company has already proven its stability by maintaining its presence in a trouble market.

One thing that troubles me about the article is that it travels back and forth with the time schedule. It starts out referencing the year 2005, about how Steven Jones announced his resignation to return to the United States. This action caused a hole in the ranks of the company. Then it went into talking about the various products that the company sold worldwide. Then in a few sentences after that it went on to discuss how it opened a new office in New Delhi. This type of writing to me left me trying to figure out how to keep track of what happened in the correct order.

I really like the idea that they added a map of India to identify the location of the country. I had no idea that it that close to China. The map was very descriptive in identifying the various offices and plant. Also along with the map was a chart identifying some information about the economy and demographics. The chart really gave me a bigger picture of how corporations are making a huge adjustment when trying to open new businesses there. The English language seems to be used throughout the globe in some sort of fashion. But with India have over 14 official languages it would seem difficult to adjust. I guess it would depend on what part of the country you’re in and if you are dealing with a business type of arena.

In the decision making process to fill the vacant position, it looks to me as if the choice will be a difficult one. I feel as if Atasi Das would have a slight edge. She has a lot of experience to bring to the position. She’s a young energetic person with the potential to bring a new vision to the area.

Teletech has two business segments, Telecommunications Services and Products and Systems unit, for the last couple of months senior management at Teletech Corporation had been discussing returns. However, only until they received the letter from Victor Yossarian did they decide to spin into action and review the company’s returns, the hurdle rate that was being used company wise and not by business segments, the annual capital budget situation, the review of new possible policies, and finally they needed to do a concrete assessment of the Products and Systems segment to know if it was profitable on its own. This situation becomes even more critical when taking in consideration that the company plans to invest about $2 Billion in the next year on capital projects.…

I believe that all the decision on hiring or promoting managers or associates should be made By Dalman and Lei. I believe this because since they are the business owners, I think they are the ones who should make those decisions. I do think Dalman more than Lei because his position is the one that will be branched out and any mistakes in the choice of who will be filling these duties could indeed end up causing more work for Dalman.…

James Aulds: (Not Viable) Former Chief Warrant officer, A typical CW is more concerned with managing that actual exploitation. In addition, his resume has copious amounts of grammatical errors, and running sentences and a seven-page long resume, that in my opinion show a lack of attention to detail. The exercise was designed so that everyone is assigned to an executive position in PB Technologies. Then, everyone has to choose his or her candidate individually before we attend the executives meeting to come up with a single candidate. My position in the organization was the VP of Marketing. Once I received the exercise’s handout, I read it carefully, compared the three candidates’ resumes and then decided to nominate Suzanne T. Valdes for the Senior VP of Finance and CFO position. I based my decision on the fact that she has the most related work experience and personality to the position, EMBA and she is an insider, which I believe is a very important quality for that position.…

The top 3 candidates will be Max Renoir, Thomas Reznor and James Heckman based on using the Compensatory Model. When looking at these 3 candidates they are the strongest in the unit weight with 70, 73 and 76 respectively and rational weight with 67.5, 69 and 76 respectively. Reznor and Renior have done well on the testing, conscientiousness and extraversion. Heckman’s testing was not outstanding, but his scores for conscientiousness and extraversion were outstanding which indicates a strong performance and working relationships with others. When looking at the top candidates using the Multiple Hurdle model we see Reznor and Renior again. Reznor has scored high on the testing, but is not quite as strong on the conscientiousness and extraversion. In reviewing the job description and KSAO requirements in screening of these candidates the best method to use would be that rational weights. This method allows for the weights to be assigned properly based on the requirements.…

The article is reliable, since it is from Time magazine. The research is biased, since the author obviously shows favoritism towards Jobs. The author, Rana Foroohar, is a qualified editor of the magazine. This article supports my idea on how passion and the big picture is important in a leader 's success.…
