“THE EFFECTS OF HAVING AN EARLY RELATIONSHIP TO AN OPPOSITE SEX TO THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF 3RD YEAR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS OF SPUD,” A.Y. 2013-2014

INTRODUCTION: “My boyfriend/girlfriend is just an inspiration” this is a common excuse of those students who entered a relationship without thinking the possible outcome of this decision specially for their studies. Teenagers are trusted by their parents to excel in their academic performance in school. They are expected to do well in the different activities and examinations they will undergo. Some teenagers can handle this kind of pressure. And other’s may not, that’s why they involved in having early relationship. To be able for them to handle the risks of doing well in school, they have this so called inspiration. Admiration or having inspiration cannot be avoided especially when talking about teenager’s life. There’s nothing wrong in having inspiration. But, involving in an early relationship not in the right age and not in the right time can either destruct or help students’ studies. Some are not committed anymore to their different duties in school. Some take their studies for granted without thinking of their parents’ hard work. While some, excel more.

Teenagers are still conscious of what’s happening around the world. If they noticed that this or that trend is famous, they will do anything for them to have that. Just like that of involving in an early relationship even though they are not allowed to. Some teenagers get involved just because their colleagues are having that kind of relationship that’s why he follows, so that he will not be feeling out of place. Teenagers are still amateur when it comes to love. They needed advice/s for them to be reminded that there are many risks to face if they get involve in an early commitment. It depends on the teenager whether he will follow what the world says or do or what his parents told him to follow. And decision will be made among himself.

Adults and teenagers often clash heads when it comes to views. Different eras, dissimilar thinking, but what teenagers forget is that adults have experienced what they are going through. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet's parents think that arranged marriage is good because thats probably how they got married. Furthermore adolescents forget that adults want the best for them, even though it might seem like they don't want the best for them. For example, the Nurse wanted Juliet to marry Paris because Romeo was evicted. The Nurse thought if Juliet settles down with Paris, it would be better than worrying about your husband that's in another city. Teenagers are not the sole ones at fault though, because adults frequently forget that teenagers are allowed…

Over the course of adolescence, people interact with one another, forming relationships, whether they are healthy or unhealthy. There is a large correlation between the self-esteem of the two people, and the state of their relationship. The lower one’s self-esteem in a relationship is, the unhealthier their relationship is likely to be. Conversely, a healthy or unhealthy relationship can also raise or lower one’s self-esteem. In the 1999 film “10 Things I Hate About You,” the relationship between Kat Stratford and Patrick Verona is an example of how a healthy relationship can raise one’s self esteem, while the relationship between Bianca Stratford and Chastity Church shows how a low self-esteem can lead to an unhealthy relationship.…
