Cell Phones And Driving
Using cellphones while driving is such a big issue for teenagers because teenages feel as they always need to be talking to people. In this generation teenagers always have their phone with them and they’re always using them. In the classroom, while watching T.V., walking down the street, and while driving. You can do anything with your cell phone, talk to friend, see what other people are doing, and search anything on the internet. Adults use their phones while driving and teenagers picl up that habit.
Texting and driving is very dangerous! It kills 11 teens per day. When you’re distracted is isn’t only dangerous for you, it’s dangerous for others. Talking on the phone while driving causes young drivers reaction times to the same as a 70 year olds.
34% of teens have admitted texted while driving. Five seconds doesn’t seem like a long time does it? But thats how long it takes you to check a text message while driving, in those short few seconds you can travel the distance of a football field.
The Distracted Driving Foundation is an organization that is trying to put an end to texting and driving. This organization is trying to get mobile carries and auto companies to put some kind of technology in their products that blocks displayintensive use of phones in easy view of drivers. They believe that if technology can cause us to be able to have everything at our fingertips there can be technology that causes driver to not be able to text while behind the wheel. If someone texts you while you’re driving the message should be blocked until the vehicle come to a complete stop and the engine is off. They believe for the safety of other the government should make this a mandatory technology that is put in all new cars and cell phones in a way that can not be disabled.
In order to put the use of cell phones to an end you have to come up with a solution. Something that could be done is making the steering wheel of a car with sensors so you need to hand to drive the car, the car wouldn’t start without both hands on the wheel. If you need both hands on the wheel for the car to move and you would be able to drive, you wouldn’t be able to text. Thus ending the texting while driving.
I can personally make this problem aware of others by speaking up and telling people to put down their phone while they’re driving. Texting other the risks of texting and driving. Also, when I’m getting ready to drive i tell the person i am texting or talking to that i’ll be right back I’m driving, I can’t talk. I could tell people that text and drive the statistics of teenagers that text and drive.

These seemingly innocuous acts also can affect their mental focus.
