Tecumseh: The Shawnee Tribe
Tecumseh was a Native American who led the Shawnee Tribe in present day Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. He was born in 1768 in South Ohio and grew up not only to be the chief of the Shawnee Tribe but a warrior who participated in many wars; such as The Battle of 1812 and The Battle of Tippecanoe.

Tecumseh was not a man of one marriage. His first betrothal was to a Native American lady by the name of Mohnetohse. The newlyweds had one son together called Mahyawwekawpaese. Soon after, though, the two divorced, and Tecumseh sent her back to her parents for neglecting their infant son. This led him to his next marriage, with another Native American lady, Mamate. Tecumseh was going to be blessed with another son, who was to be named Naythawaynah,

He spent his days on the battlefield or making peace with other chiefs, so he was preoccupied, and his two sons went under the care of his sister, Tecumpease. After his second wife, Mamate, Tecumseh did not remarry and remained single for the rest of his life. As he lost his older brother on the battlefield as well, he only had one other brother, Tenskwatawa, or The Prophet, whom he did not communicate with furthermore after the attack on the Shawnee, which may have been prevented if he listened to Tecumseh’s orders.

Tecumseh did not make much of a family influence on his life, rather than the interference of his brother on his leadership. Tecumseh went away and put his brother in charge. When his brother felt threatened, he told the tribe to immediately attack. The tribe was unsure if they would be able to succeed but he told them that he was the Prophet and that they would not be injured. In the end, many Shawnee died and lost their confidence in representing the Shawnee in war again. In conclusion, Tecumseh did no have much of a family which could have influenced the type of leader and father whom he was. The father of two young men, the widow of one Native American lady, and the ex-husband of

I think that Tecumseh was trying to express to the Osage (other red people) that all red people need to unite because if they do, they can kill the white people and get vengeance. I think that Tecumseh stressed over and over that they needed to destroy the white people because that was the only way to stop the evil. For example in his speech, he states, “ We, ourselves, are threatened with a great evil; nothing will pacify them but the destruction of all the red men". In addition, according to his speech, he alerted, “they will first destroy us, and then you will fall an easy prey to them. They have destroyed many nations of red men because they were not united, because they were not friends to each other”. So, therefore, if they do not…

John Ridge, Major Ridge’s son, aspired to be that person to change the nation for the better good. John Ridge attended a Christian school in Connecticut with his cousin Elias Boudinot. John was very talented in his school work and learned about the bible and the U.S. Constitution. Although he was almost one thousand miles from home, John Ridge never showed any weaknesses. In this day and age, many are led to believe that Pocahontas was a beautiful, mature woman who saved John Smith’s life and married him out of pure munificence and love. A good amount would be surprised if they were told otherwise. In the movie, Pocahontas was portrayed as a beautiful, mature woman at the time of her marriage with John Smith. However, she was married to John Rolfe at a very young age. Disney’s Pocahontas certainly did not help the cause of correctly informing the children and adults.…

Did you know that the Shawnee Indian tribe is a fascinating tribe? I recently have learned that they are nomads. Nomads are people who travel instead of settling in one place. Southern Ohio, West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania were a couple of states they once lived in. Until around 1660 Iroquois drove out the tribe to southern Carolina, Tennessee’s Cumberland basin, eastern Pennsylvania, and southern Illinois. They had tried to return, but again they were forced to leave by American settlers. The settlers pushed them first to Missouri and then to Kansas, but the Shawnee people settled in Oklahoma after the Civil War.…

To many, sustainable tourism might be interpreted as sustaining attractions just to ensure there is a continuation of visitors and tourists coming in. However, this understanding is too juvenile. According to a 1987 report, Our Common Future, sustainable development is define as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’ (WCED, 1987). Fundamentally, sustainable development ‘advocates the wise use and conservation of resources in order to maintain their long-term viability’ (Elber, 1992).…
