Technology Today: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
When societies began developing, the primary use of labor was humans. This, however, changed as a technological revolution occurred. Major advancements were made in the use of technology. One area of advancements was robotics. The use of robotics has become more common in society in the past couple of years. Robotics have been used for medical, defense, daily use, and many other reasons. The use of robots in society has its pros and cons.

Robots can be used for daily activities. In recent times, robots have been used to do tasks that humans had once done. The military has begun to use robots as a primary source of weapons and bomb deactivation. Tasks that are too dangerous for humans can now be done by unmanned vehicles and remote controlled machines. Military robots include the SWORDS robot. The SWORDS robot is currently used in ground-based combat. Unmanned combat air vehicles (UCAVs), are used for a wide variety of missions, including combat. Robots are also used for medical purposes. In the past, robots were used as simple assistants to ease the life of people who needed it. However, those machines have become relatively obsolete, and a new generation of semi-autonomous robots has taken face. This robot is called FRIEND. FRIEND was designed to assist the elderly and disabled with common tasks, such as, preparing and serving a meal.

In modern society, there are many advantages of using robotic technology. Robots have the capacity to dramatically improve product quality. Work done by robots can be performed with great precision and high repeatability every time. This level of consistency can be hard to achieve any other way. With robots, the speed of production increases. This can be seen by the use of the assembly line. The assembly line was created to produce products with ease and speed. Additionally, because robots have the ability to work at a constant speed without pausing for breaks, sleep, vacations, they have the potential to produce more than

The second article, written by Kathleen Richardson, shows that the human-like robots can be a human’s friend and help people, especially old people. Richardson uses several examples of humanoid robots which she has proven successfully the validity of her perspective. Robots which have added more progressive systems and software can reduce their owner’s stress, both in daily life and in the working. Even if some scientists who apply ethics to robots think that giving robots more status will have bad consequences, author always insists on her opinion. In the last, she restates her opinion, and advises…

A robot is defined as a mechanical or virtual intelligent agent that can perform most tasks automatically or with some guidance. A robot is usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by a computer of some sort and an electronic programming. Many people think it is a machine that imitates a human—much like the androids in Star Wars, Terminator and Star Trek. People still haven 't been able to give a robot enough understanding to reliably interact with the world. The types of robots that you will encounter most frequently are the robots that will do work that is too dangerous, vigorous, or just plain nasty. They can be found in auto, medical, manufacturing and space industries. In fact, there are over a million of these types of robots working for us today. Robotics has other uses that can help people with everyday life. They have come a long way since Leonardo Da Vinci first drew up designs for robotic equipment in the 1400’s, and even earlier before that to the Chinese in an estimated time of 50 BC. However there is a fear in today’s society that advancement in robotics may lead to a dooms day scenario.…
