Technology Simplifies Morden Life
Technology simplifies modern life

This essay will argue against the notion or statement that technology simplifies modern life. The subsequent paragraphs will outline the negative impacts technology has had on life.
Technology has modern life hard to bear and has endangered life in many in many instances. For instance The Cuba missile crisis of 60’s is testament to this, where the United States of America and Russia threatened a nuclear war that would be a great calamity for the whole world in fact the threat was great that it was that it was calculated that it would annihilate the whole world; however, the war didn’t happen because of the dealings and successful peace talks between the U.S and Russia.
Secondly, technology complicates life in the sense that more and more people die at the barrel of the gun whether through war, individual cases where someone was getting mugged and instances where someone caught a stray bullet. The latter usually happens at the hands of the police who happened to have a gun fire with a suspected criminal in a public atmosphere whereby someone innocent bystander got shot.
Thirdly, technology has modern life hard to live in the sense that there is a high mortality rate with regards to car accidents and even measures are put to try and prevent deaths on the road, measures like not drinking and driving, obeying the speed limit and putting your seat belt on, there is always one individual who doesn’t comply to any of those rules who in turn puts everyone’s life at risk and who be the likely cause of a car accident.
Finally, technology makes modern life hard to bear because of greenhouse emissions that are mainly produced by factories. These chemicals poisonous have impacted badly on our fauna because they are discarded in the river in part and therefore kill our fauna and their also discarded in the air as greenhouse emissions which have impacted badly on our atmosphere in the sense that we now experience irregular weather

An American writer and futurist, Alvin Toffler once said, “Our technological powers increase, but the side effects and potential hazards also escalate.” What Toffler is inferring is that in this 21st Century, humans are born into a world full of wonderful gadgets. But behind all these wonderful gadgets lies some pretty scary effects to it. With the knowledge of knowing that there is a high possibility of getting into a car accident; teens nowadays, including adults, use their phones while driving. Since the roads humans drive on everyday are saturated with ignorant use of cellphones, the risk of one's life and the pedestrians life is summiting. Nowadays, humans think that they can multitask, but they are wrong. Quite a lot of deaths and road…

They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world.” I have experienced technological advancements by working with any new software on a computer and the constantly evolving world of phones and computer, so I have some mixed feelings in agreement to both views. It is through this I have learned that technology evolving can be good but it does, at times, come with heavy burdens and consequences for the…

In a modern world human beings are essentially running out of resources. It is often heard that evidence of environmental damage being created by humanity is inconclusive. It is not a subject often discussed within modern media and until recently, a majority of the population remained unaware to the growing issues currently challenging the Earth. This ecological crisis could persuasively be blamed upon the rapidly advancing world of technology, however anthropogenic studies, (MacKenzie, D. 1999), along side growing environmental evidence show mankind has not evolved at the same speed of these new found technologies, hence is technology to blame for our ecological crisis or is mankind? Do these machines now control individual lives and are human beings becoming slave to the very technologies they have created? This thesis will explore these questions within developing nations and argue that it is not technology at fault for the Earth's increasing temperature's and environmental damage, rather western societies ideology that mankind is unable to survive without it, (technology).…

Technology has shaped and defined human activity and it has made life easier but more dangerous. As Langdon Winner explains in his piece, Technological Somnambulism, technology is a neutral tool. It can be used in a positive or a negative way. As well, Modern technology can be dangerous in many different ways. As more technology becomes available to the public, more people rely on it. This could be a problem; for example when many people want to figure something out, they will probably just type the question into Google. Technology allows us to think less about certain things, which may be easier but it “dumbs us down”. This could be considered dangerous because we may rely on technology too much and we could become lazy with our everyday rituals. With that said, technology has also helped us improve medicine and science to help cure certain diseases. Without these improvements we wouldn’t be as strong as a community. There seems to always be positive and negative things that come with technology.…

This is supported with the statement, “Unfortunately, there are some technologies that are inherently harmful. Machine guns made modern warfare more deadly, starting with WW1. Later, conventional bombers made carrying high explosives, incendiary bombs, and finally, the first, primitive, atomic bombs, caused the deaths of more civilians than soldiers” (Unger 1). These examples of advancement in technology are thought of as dangerous and can be considered negative, but they are often overlooked when considering whether progress in technology is good or not. The fact that considering these technologies could easily sway someone’s thoughts on whether progress is good or bad makes it very important to not overlook them. It is suggested that “…there are other applications of technology that are intended for benign use, but which have well known major harmful side effects”, one of these being the “automobile” with statistics brought up in support such as “…autos kill about 1.2 million people annually” and “are the leading cause of deaths of people between the ages 10 and 24” (Unger 2). Many people consider cars to be great advancements in technology and do not consider how dangerous they actually are as shown by statistics. Still…

It adds convenience to our lives and can save us much time. Unfortunately this convenience comes at the price of using various fuels. Some common fuels such as oils are in limited supply and are expected to run dry within decades. These types of fuels also leave behind pollutants such as greenhouse gases, posing as a threat to our environment and ultimately our well-being. Biofuel run the risk of making agriculture too expensive for the lower…

The person of the 21st century has the luxury of being dependent on technology, allowing for certain weaknesses to sprout out of individuals due to their lack of natural abilities. Technology is the making, modification, use, and knowledge of tools, machines, or techniques, in order to solve a problem, improve a preexisting solution to a problem, achieve a goal, or perform a specific function. It’s true; technology has made life more efficient and reliable. Many great inventions have been possible through technology. Technology is also one of the causes of people becoming lazier, uninspired, and less creative. Technology is not bad in and of itself, but people are misusing it. Planes, trains, and automobiles carry people from place to place at high speeds. Telephones, television and computer networks help people communicate with others across the world. Medical technologies from vaccines to Stem Cell therapy, allow people to live longer, healthier lives. Although most people think technology made life easier, it’s actually making them overly dependent on those technologies.…

On the other hand, opponents state that technology ends up creating a bigger problem than the one we were trying to resolve in the first place. They truly believe that the benefits we could obtain are nothing compared with the damage we have caused. Sometimes technology is not even used to solve any problem, but merely to create one. Let’s use the nuclear bombs as an example, they are meant to destroy, to kill. Even if someone is able to survive after a nuclear bomb is detonated near where they are, they will probably be affected by mutations and severe genetic problems due to the radiation caused by the bomb.…
