Teachers Should Be Allowed To Carry Guns In Schools
Teachers and guns, is it ok? There has always been a contradiction on the topic. People have argued that it isn’t safe and that it shouldn’t be allowed for years. It has already been passed in 18 states and many public and private schools have already begun allowing it. Guns should be allowed to be concealed by select teachers in all schools. Teachers should be able to carry firearms at school. “the arming of teachers would have a greatly immediate impact on violent behavior in schools by criminals.” (Ayoob). As Ayoob says, there wouldn’t be as much violence in schools if teachers and staff were trained and had weapons. The teachers that would be armed will need to go through a mandatory training, the same training as police and security guards. “For the concept to work, teachers would have to voluntarily offer to carry and pass strict …show more content…
There was a school in Israel that took students on a trip to the “Island of Peace”, where they were asked to leave their weapons behind. “An Arab gunman saw the easy target and opened fire, killing seven children and wounding six.”(An Absurd Idea?). Bad guys are always looking for the easiest way to commit a crime. Another situation took place in Pearl, Mississippi, where a student stole a hunting rifle with many rounds and opened fire in his school. “The vice principal rushed to his car and took his .45 semi auto pistol and made the student surrender.”(An Absurd Idea?). Yet another reason why guns should be in schools. Lastly, there was an eighth-grade graduation dance in Edinboro, Pennsylvania where a fourteen year old started to shoot and the banquet hall owner stopped it from being worse. “The owner rushed to his office where he had a shotgun and confronted the shooter, limiting the toll to only one dead teacher and two wounded students.” (An Absurd Idea?). In any scenario, a firearm wielded by trained personnel truly saves

In the United States of America, many school are considering allowing their teachers to carry guns in schools. It is true that the protection on school grounds is unquestionably essential, but teachers should not be allowed to carry guns in schools. Guns on campus could possibly lead to an escalation of violence, an eye for an eye concept. The accepted way of handling a shooter is to calmly call the authorities. “The Gun Control Debate” P.G. 34” States that in 1993, 39,595 Americans were killed by guns, 71% (27,726) were handguns and 1% was of police force. Stats prove that small handheld firearms are most used in crimes. By 1999, gun crimes have dropped 68% when heightened police force strengthened. In the same year, the law for obtained a gun cracked down. When guns are brought in public places i.e. schools, grocery stores, or, law enforcement should handle public infringements. Guns are not the better outcome of bringing into schools because it does not have that many reasons for keeping it as the negative side do to ban them in a school. Adam Winker was right with his many reasonings of how guns do not bring a better outcome as if there was a law that let people carry guns into schools. People will not feel safer if those who are trying to protect them are the ones that are accidentally shooting them because of a mistake of figuring the…

Most school systems hire police or some type of security to watch after students during the day. Security should be enough protection, so a teacher still shouldn’t feel the need to carry a gun. It’s still not fully safe for a security to carry a gun. On January 27, 2011 a policeman was arrested for shooting his gun inside of a school building. Not only did he fire his weapon, he also lied about the situation. If the same situation took place and a teacher had control over the gun it actually could have been worse, because a school policeman just watch over the student who are most likely in the hall, a teacher actually is in class with the students.…

Over the past couple of years, the debate over whether or not handguns should be allowed on school campuses has exploded into a wide variety of opinions. Handguns are allowed in many other places, but should they really be brought into a learning environment? Many people are starting to voice their opinions over this topic due to the large increase of school shootings and suicides within recent years. “Since 1995, more than thirty students and teachers have been killed and approximately one hundred have been wounded as a result of shootings at American schools” (Egendorf). Letting students bring handguns onto campuses provides numerous risks and benefits for the safety of schools across the nation.…

    Guns in School

There should be no guns in class room. Because it may cause more violence in the school and cause more school shootings. Kids may find the gun and use it against others. Also some younger kids may feel threatened with a gun in the class room. However assuming that any teacher and kid would not go on a killing spree yes it could be a good idea, but considering most school shooting are caused by children/teens it is not a logic idea. We do not need more guns in schools I personally think that we need less guns in schools these days. There is no valid reason for there to be guns in schools unless it is owned by a police officer. Guns in schools lead to negative things and it should not happen. Say you have a fresh-faced, doe-eyed new teacher, 22 years old and starting their first day as a teacher. Now you've handed them a firearm and tell them that they have to have this gun with them at all times. Now the teacher might have a background with guns and be OK with that, but maybe they don't. Perhaps they're one of these 'pansy liberals' that get so much flack in the circles that think they should be armed. Well this teacher now has to make a decision, should they carry a gun on themselves and be forced to keep the student at arms length, thus hampering the learning environment, or should they simply let a multitude of kids get right up against the weapon? Well obviously we shouldn't be giving kids the opportunity to get at the weapon, and we don't want to hamper the learning experience, so let's give the teacher a gun safe to put it in. Now a few months pass and this safe is opened once or twice to check on the gun, because after all gun violence is still very minimal in the US despite what people on FB might shout. However this safe has to be readily available so that the teacher can get to it in times of emergency, but that means it's also readily available to curious and mischievous kids too. A kid will find a way to get into any locked compartment if they are…

There are three main advantages for allowing teachers to carry a concealed weapon. The three advantages are casualties will be reduced if you could take down the shooter quickly before the shooter kills any more people, teachers can be a tremendous deterrent to crime, and teachers can help stop another school shooting for example, Columbine or Virginia Tech. Let’s start with the first advantage. Casualties will be reduced if you could take down the shooter quickly before the shooter kills any more people. An armed teacher provides more immediate protection for the students than a police officer on the phone. It will take probably 5-10 minutes before the police will even get there. That is too much time for the shooter to do whatever he wants. So, if some teachers were carrying a gun, they could take down the shooter quickly before more damage is done.…

Picture a class of twenty elementary students hidden under desks around the classroom, and the teacher is begging the children to stop sobbing. Down the hall the sound of gunshots ring out the sounds of people screaming and begging for help can be heard. The shooter is moving closer and closer to the area and all the innocent soon to be victims are defenseless. There is nothing in that classroom that is going to stop what is about to happen. Now imagine a teacher with a handgun that could at least scare off the shooter, or deter them from advancing into the room. Many people frown upon teachers being able to carry a handgun on school grounds, but if they only knew that the thing they frown upon could possibly be saving their kids life. It makes perfect sense that teachers should be able to carry a handgun if and only if they go through the proper training and tests.…

Bang! bang! Children run to hide! Is this something you want the world to know about? Do you want your children to be put in a murder scene or a potential one? Why not allow teachers to carry guns if they're able to? Even though most people think it is a horrid idea; the reality is, that increased publicity has caused people to react negatively. They need to understand that there is specialized handlers training for those teachers that do carry, background checking on the individual applying for the concealed carry license, and the schools are limiting the number of teachers with guns.…

One thing that has been happening in schools is open fire, killing and wounding others weather that is the teachers or students. Tragedies like these are some of our worst fears no one would ever want to be stuck in the middle of a school shooting. So let's stop this from happening with giving teacher the rights to carry concealed weapons. The reasons we are going to let this is happen is because teachers will be prepared for an incident to happen, some people live to far away and it would take a long time before the police get there, students are going to feel more safe knowing that their teachers are armed.…

“Ohio had a bill passed so students can't carry on public campuses. Ohio had an attacker and the man was killed within minutes of running his car into the building and pulling a knife on students. If there is a gun man and many students have guns and open fire on the shooter there could be cross fire that could kill innocent people.” (Pittsburg Post-Gazette, Dec 20, 2016, p.1). Some people think this but, if there was a designated person in the areas and there was an attacker the person carrying the gun could stop the attacker hopefully before the damage is done. Adrian Burns said( Nov 6, 2016, p.1) “Schools want to arm teachers to help defend the school. In Ohio there are 175 staff members with guns. They have the staff have guns just incase a student or someone comes into the build and starts shooting people the school wants the teachers to shoot the shooter before they kill more people.” That is if the designated person is not the one attacking people. Some people want to know who the designated people with the guns are but if everyone knows who is carrying the gun and if an attack began to happen, that criminal would be going after the person with the gun first so the attacker does not have a threat. Julie Turkewitz and Troy Griggs said “In the past 25 years violent crime has decreased dramatically. 44 million americans owned 192 million guns in 1994 and now it's 55 million americans own 265…

There are so many school shootings in a single year and if people had conceal and carry many people could still be alive. If staff and students were armed in situations like school shootings it would make many more people feel more comfortable and make the kids and staff safer. “Fifty-six percent of Americans believe the US would be safer if more people carried concealed weapons, after undergoing training and a background check, according to a 2015 Gallup Poll. That's a noticeable difference from 2005, when 65 percent said they would not feel safer in a place with concealed firearms” (Jackson). People believe that it is safer that people have guns to protect themselves and other people in bad situations. If people think that a school is more protected they might not choose that school to attack because of all the conceal and carry. Students and staff also might feel more comfortable during a lockdown because they have a weapon to protect themselves and anyone else. It also might make parents and family members feel better knowing that their family member has a way of protection without them. “Nearly 7 percent of high school students nationwide reported being threatened or injured with a weapon on school property at least once in the past year, according to a Centers for Disease Control 2013 survey” (Balmert). Many people have been attacked on school property with a…

1.The moral theory of divine command theory is when a person morals depends upon God's command. If God believes that something is right then a person would also believe it is right, if God believes that something is wrong then a person would also believe it is wrong. Whatever God says is valuable to that individual. An objection to this theory would be the argument of different religious views. If an individual was Muslim and another was Christian, the Muslim would argue that the command of God isn't morally correct because he doesn't believe in God.…

There seems to be a belief that if students are armed it will in some way reduce the threat of gun violence since everyone is loaded. In the news, most if not all of the school shootings are concluded with the gunman being killed or apprehended by the authorities and not student or teacher. The simple reason is that people in fear for their lives are too busy trying to escape and not fight back and in the heat of a campus wide…
