Taylormade Advertising Essay
“Global competition is about winners and losers” (Korten 1). Everyone wants to be successful, and a lot of people will do what it takes to be successful in one aspect or another. In golf, success is represented in many ways, like winning a trophy or a jacket, but most of the time the most important trophies are the same color, gold, for instance a World Golf Championship, or the Fedex Cup. In order to win in golf, there must be two things present, talent and the right clubs for that talent. Not every golfer has the talent, but they can get the right clubs to help become better. In the Taylormade ad campaign, they promote the products, to the average golfer, through an association with winning, visual appeal, by making the ads easily identifiable to one another, and by using feel good words and phrases (4-5; 16-17; 1). The Taylormade advertisements promotes their product through their use of colors associated with success. The advertisements use gold repeatedly on the most important parts of the ads, like the titles and the “#1 Driver in Golf “ logo. Taylormade does this not only to draw the reader in, but to also make the association of Taylormade with gold. The gold draws the reader in because it is different from the other colors in the ad, so it makes it look more …show more content…
The colors promote success, the clubs look reliable, the relatability of the ads makes the clubs seem that they work together in order to win, and the words used makes the ads seem positive and uplifting. This is all done in a simple way, by doing this it makes the clubs seem simple to the audience and easier to understand that these clubs are the best. I like the way the ads are shown, they aren’t forcing me to read it, but the colors make me want to read it. Overall the ads help to represent Taylormade as a successful club

This commercial features prominent athletes across a wide range of sports. It is assumed that the viewer has a reasonably understanding of sports in the US. In order to understand certain components of the ad, for example the helmet catch by David Tyree in super bowl 42 or that Michael Jordan is jumping in the air because he had hit a game winner in the NBA finals against the Jazz.     The advertisement uses many different sizes and colors within the whole image. The top Cover Girl is in the light green color reflecting back to the idea of softness and it is the vantage point for a person’s eyes. It is very bold and automatically draws attention to the top half of the advertisement. Also, the different very black and dark bold text at the bottom of the page seems intriguing for a few reasons. First, the different font types and sizes attempt to make you really see the first three lines very clearly and get an understanding of what the product is. However, the work “new” happens to be in green followed by “natureluxe silk foundation” with “luxe” being bolded, suggesting that this product is truly “luxury touched by nature;” which is in very small print right below that as well.
