Task A – Short Answer Questions

A1 – Imagine you are a newly appointed supervisor/manager within your service. You need to update your staff handbook to reflect current employment law?
Identify three different sources of information you could use to enable you to do this -
1 – I would use the Internet such as – www.direct.gov.co.uk and Citizens Advice
2 - I could also use leaflets, books and existing company handbook.
3 – Could also use hcasupportforum.blogspot.co.uk

A2 – Once you have identified a reliable source of information:
A – List three aspects of employment covered by law?
- Minimum wage, Hours worked, Discrimination, Health and Safety, Holiday Entitlements, Redundancy and Dismissal, Training, Disciplinary Procedures, Union Rights and Consultation and Many more.

B – List three main features of current employment legislation:
The three main current employment legislation are –
1 – Employment Rights
2 – Equality and Discrimination
3 – Health and Safety

A3 – Briefly outline why employment law exists?
Employment law exists to protect you, your safety and your human rights at the workplace. In example – Working hours, Pay, Breaks ect.
If employment law never existed you could be working excessive hours with no breaks or could be sacked for no reason.
