WRITING TASK 2:
People nowadays work hard to buy more things. This has made our lives generally more comfortable but many traditional values and customs have been lost and this is a pity.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
You should write at least 250 words.

Trong phần introduction này, nên sử dụng câu ‘It is argued that..’
2. Purpose of the essay: Nên sử dụng 1 trong 2 câu sau đây làm cầu nối cho mở bài và thân bài:
a. This essay will examine / analyse the issue in detail.
b. This essay will take a closer look at the issue.

=> Xem thử phần INTRODUCTION mẫu này nhé: In our contemporary life, people are trying to earn as much money as they can to buy more things. It is argued that these things have created a chance for people to have a comfortable life. However, it is unfortunate that many traditional values and customs have also been lost on the way. This essay will take a closer look at the issue. (63 words)
II. BODY:
Phần body nên chia làm 2 đoạn. Ví dụ, theo đề này, Bear chia body thành 2 đoạn:
a. 1 đọan nói về traditional values
b. 1 đoạn nói về customs. Đa số ở những đề khác, mình chia làm 2 đoạn :
a. 1 đoạn nói về ONE SIDE OF THE ARGUMENT (Ví dụ: cái lợi khi đi xe búyt)
b. 1 đoạn nói về THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ARGUMENT (Ví dụ: bất tiện khi đi xe búyt)
Trong mỗi đoạn, mình phải cho ví dụ để support y minh

In the novel Paradise of the Blind by Duong Thu Huong, the author uses diction from the perspective of Hang to set the foundation of the novel as well as to establish the essential element of Hang’s journey through time and space in relation to her family. Motifs are vital in the novel to draw attention to certain aspects in order to bring out the emotional experiences of Hang’s journey along with her interactions with other characters. Motifs are expressed to portray the influence of cultural aspects on Hang’s emotions and conscience. Imagery, portrayed in the novel is expressed through intense diction as the beautiful landscapes she describes is contradicted with harsh comments that reflect society. As Hang matures from innocence to maturity, it is evident Huong is displaying Hang’s coming of age story through the use of various techniques. In result, Hang becomes aware of herself, her Vietnamese culture, and her family. The author utilizes the techniques of diction, motifs and imagery to interpret the emotional journey Hang experiences through various changes as she discovers herself and is able to find her place in the world resulting in her ultimate acknowledgement that she does not have to abide by expectations of Vietnamese culture and familial obligations.…

The topic I will explore in this paper is conspicuous consumption, and its relationship to our present day class system. Merriam-Webster defines conspicuous consumption as follows: "lavish or wasteful spending thought to enhance social prestige". After reading the definition, there were a number of factors that made me immediately drawn to this topic. Naturally, many of the issues pertaining to the family deals primarily on person to person relationships (e.g. "diversity in couples, divorce, the consequences of gender roles", etc.), yet this issue seemed to provide a different angle on the problems evident in modern day families (as well as their dynamics). I have always believed consumerism, i.e. the things we buy and why we buy them, to be a very important and relatively overlooked subject in relation to inter-family relationships.…

How else is Huong able to directly and clearly show the influence of the Vietnamese culture during her time except to reflect them through characters within the story? The novel does not include scenes packed with action or a dramatic climax, but by indirectly using the actions of Que and Tam and their effects on Hang, Huong is able to create a microcosm for the influence and impact of cultural values on the lives of most women in Vietnam. The commitment to their ancestors, respect towards the men and the sacrifices that these two characters go through not only allows and gives the readers insight into the values that are present within Vietnam, but also depicts their impacts in the long run as Tam and Que approach their death and old age as they have always been, crippled, worn, miserable and confined. They had labored away their youth, devoted their freedom to the ties of culture, contributed and given all they could, only to be met with a humble and lonely end. A cruel conclusion to lives that were lived for others rather than just…

The whole idea of traditions comes to seem quite strange. Why would we want to do the same as previous generations? What's so great about the past? Popular media fosters the desire to create new modes of life - within the context of capitalism.
