Taking a Deep Look At The Day After Tomorrow

Director Roland Emmerich brings an adrenaline-filled disastrous movie, The Day After Tomorrow to the big screen. “At the end of its box office run, the film grossed $186,740,799 domestically and $542,771,772 worldwide. The film did well at the box office, grossing $542,771,772 internationally. It is the sixth-highest grossing film not to be number one in the United States.” (Wikipedia) This movie has brought USD 186.6 million to the Box Office, which is a great success for a science fiction movie. Unlike other old-fashioned science fiction movie, The Day After Tomorrow actually brings out an educational message about global warming. The three elements that have made the movie becomes such a great success are the storyline, visual effects and the acting. Director Emmerich portrays the story with significant and unforgettable visual effects, in order to catch the audiences' attentions and alarm people bewaring of the seriousness of global warming. On the other hand, one of the main characters Jake Gyllenhaal has made an outstanding performance in the movie and it shows Jake has delivered one of his best performances to the audiences.

Weather system of the Earth collapses due to global warming. The climate changes for the worst. Tokyo is hit by softball size hail; it begins to snow in New Delhi; and Los Angeles is destroyed by a group of tornados that hit all at the same time. At the centre of the movie, paleoclimatologist Jack Hall tries to save the world from the effects of global warming while rescuing his son at the same time. Sam, the son of Dr. Hall, is in Manhattan where the city is overwhelming by the chilling begins of the New Ice Age and he has to manage to survive not only under a devastating wave but also freezing temperature.
