TC Teens Ministry Application Essay
I have heard recent news of Erik Davis leaving the TC Teens ministry. I know he is missed. He did an amazing job with the service he performed at TC, and it was a privilege serving under him. Erik was awesome about reaching out to members of the church to have the opportunity to serve Christ's youth in TC Teens. Erik and Ally made me feel so welcome while serving in this ministry and I have longed for it ever since I left the Charlotte area this fall. While serving in Teens, Erik granted me the chance to not only serve with the 6th grade girls, but plan activities and icebreakers for all of the teens, help with events and servant leader functions. He saw my passion and potential within the sixth grade girls small group and the way I helped facilitate the group with ways to break down the week's sermon or lesson to a "easier" and more relate-able interpretation for …show more content…
I felt that this was God's calling to follow my childhood passion, but unfortunately it has not worked out the way I had planned or thought. I have tried to make my time here a mission that God has instilled in me and to remain positive among all negative situations, but it has not been easy. The school I work at has many problems within the administration and staffing and it is far from a safe situation to be in. I left my family and all I knew to perform this position and am extremely disappointed of what has come in it, but know that God has a plan through all I do. I miss and crave the servant lifestyle and youth ministry greatly. I have tried finding weekend services and churches to go to, while here, but nothing has worked out, partially to the fact that my time is all put in to my job. Serving in TC was the time of my life, in each ministry- Teens, Kids, Hospitality, Baptism, Care-Kids, and Groups- Assistant Leader. I long for it, and hope to come back to

Lori, I truly enjoyed your interview response on Reverend Jennifer Beagle. I can agree with her statement on developing a ministry, “It’s a battle worth fighting, suit-up, buckle-up, and don’t doubt that God is in everything. Find God in every circumstance and view people as creations”. (Beagle, 2015) Just as the varying parts of the human body need each other to best accomplish its work, so the Body of Christ needs to function interdependently, like a team. (Rom. 12:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:12-27) God so designed the Church that it "grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work". (Eph. 4:16) Christian leaders are servants. Jesus specifically addresses servant leadership…

Samuel Clemens advised “Go to bed early, get up early-this is wise”, and by appreciating the soundness of his words, rarely, if ever, do I find myself in the chaos of late morning traffic. By accomplishing little everyday small tasks such as getting up early in time for a healthy breakfast or studying in motivating environments allows me to be extremely productive and effective as a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). For the past seven months, I’ve held an environmental specialist internship at the Santa Rosa Water Department that goes hand-in-hand with my dedication and efforts at the junior college. Over the past two years, it has been my pleasure to participate in courses and to become a part of the SRJC culture. I am motivated and eager to continue to develop a strong background of calculus, general chemistry, biology and critical thinking, and expanding physics, engineering and organic chemistry. My overarching education goal is to receive a bachelors of science in environmental engineering or hydrologic science. My top three universities of choice are UC Berkley and Cal Poly for their environmental engineering programs and UC Santa Barbara for hydrologic…

As an alumna of prominent educational institutions – Ladies’ College and Mount Holyoke College – I consider myself fortunate to be a part of a community of women who are invested in the personal and professional development of each other. Over the years, the resources afforded to me through these institutions have played a critical role in supporting my intellectual and personal growth. At Mount Holyoke College, conversations with fellow students enabled me to develop a cosmopolitan view of the world; be it through debates on intersectional feminism at the dinner table or collaborations to form social movements on campus, my interactions with this intellectual community of women have been influential in shaping my identity as a scholar and a citizen of the world. Moreover, the enduring relationships I have formed with alumnae, have informed my belief on the importance of female mentorship. These relationships’ have cemented my conviction of the need to build stronger connections between students and alumnae and prompted my active engagement in the Sri Lankan chapter of the Mount Holyoke Alumnae group, as well as the Ladies’ College Old Girl Association. My role as assistant coach for the Ladies’ College debate team is reflective of…

Several years ago I graduated from high school and entered community college to start my studies for pre-med, but as I grew closer to graduation I saw the challenges in this career path. Then, I decided to change the major to Nursing in order for my credits to transfer from premed and make years spent in college less than in the Premed program. Both careers are highly competitive and honored in all countries of this world. My main goal is to join a profession that will help me interact with people and show people Christ’s love for all humankind through myself. It’s a blessing to help people with their problems and be by their side when they need it as God does in our lives. So, now I having difficulties with standing with my decisions and believing that I will overcome these failures. I want my purpose in life to follow with what God wants me to do and not feel pressured by family or society. There are times in my life when I feel hopeless and abandoned by everyone. I want to stay strong, but my emotions take over me and cause me emotional distress. This allows me to lose faith and trust in God when nothing seems to be going the way I want in life.…

“Hello, my name is Maya Parson and I would like to represent the city of Vance in the Virginia Girls’ State General Assembly.” The sound of my foot nervously tapping on the marble floor marked the silence that lay under my wavering voice. I had the concentrated attention of 50 of the most accomplished female rising seniors who where invited to spend a week at the American Legion Auxiliary’s Virginia Girl’s State program. I could feel the nervous sweat gathering on my palms. I was forced to place my paper on the podium after failing to read it in my unstable hands. It had been a turbulent past few days getting accustomed to the hectic routine and becoming best friends with 612 other brilliant females and here I was completely leaping from the bounds of comfort and campaigning for a representative office. What made me decide to stand up with eight other girls who had resumes that, although were lengthy, ultimately were superficial? I was not the type of person to put herself in a position to be judged publicly on merit. Putting myself out to be judged was exactly what I had avoided all of my life. I looked through the glass door into the courtyard of the Longwood Campus and saw a single flower on its own in a flower garden. Suddenly, the words of my junior year English teacher on transcendentalism had bombarded my thought process. I realized in this moment that going to other countries or being the head of a club did not give someone value as a political leader as candidates before me had argued. The worth of a human being comes from their contributions as a member of society and their ability to not just learn but to do. This can only be achieved by the recognition of the individual. I explained the transcendentalist movement to my peers and made a case for why this understanding can be useful in representing a group of people. I spoke of the importance of speaking deliberately and of not being afraid to challenge popular ideologies and thoughts. I…

During the last 12 months of my life, I have volunteered a substantial amount of my time in my youth group: Amplified Youth. I currently hold a position on the leadership team and I also lead the media team. 4 years ago, our youth worship team did not have a sound engineer or media team. I took on the task and I learned how to operate the presentation software as well as run the sound board. Since then, I have passed on the knowledge I gained to others and have given them an opportunity to serve and learn more about sound and media. I also currently make promotional videos and other graphics for our services with industry grade software as needed. This experience challenged me because I was held responsible for showing up to practices on a…

Perhaps it would be better to preface this short narrative with my background: I was raised being told I was Catholic, but not practicing, and craving home, but not knowing what ‘home’ meant since my family had moved from place to place my entire life. After becoming Christian, my faith shot up like a thirsty seed that had just had its first taste of water. During that growth spurt, however, my family also moved to Japan. Since there are not many churches in Japan, not many people who know Christ (compared to Jacksonville, at least), and my family was slowly becoming convinced that I’d gone bat-shit crazy, I knowingly made the decision to leave this grace that I’d just experienced to chase after safety. I didn’t want to risk becoming stranded in a strange country at 16. That being said, I made some cowardly decisions all while knowing that I was running from an amazing God. The funny thing about grace, though, is that it will find us where we least expect it. As Davis said in Psalm 139:…

In 2011 I had the privilege to attend Camp Eagle the same week as the Dallas Baptist University Worship team. I was able to meet the band members Aaron Zavala, Jordan Patterson, and Jason Deutsch, the bass player. They looked like such a close group, a group I knew I wanted to be a part of. We are naturally drawn to those who share common interests; I play bass for my church, and I had the opportunity to talk to Jason about playing bass guitar and my future. He asked me where I planned to attend college and I could not answer his question, but I had not really thought about it. He started telling me about a few of his experiences at DBU and what an amazing school it had been for him. We ended our conversation with him telling me to continue playing bass because there aren’t enough bass players in the world.…

Teenage years can be a challenging time for many individuals. Beginning at the age of 11 through 20, adolescence is defined as a “transitional period in the human life span, linking childhood and adulthood” (Santrock 2009). At this point, the person is no longer a child, but not yet an adult. This makes it a very critical and sensitive time frame for identity formation.…
