Synthesis Essay: Should Schools Promote Individuality?
Common sense seems to dictate that many student are following rules rather than being themselves. It is often said by schools that they want students to be okay in society in the standard views. The standard way of thinking about school is thinking they try to make students fit in society. Schools assume that what they are doing is for the best of students. Schools should promote individuality because it is just a routine , does not allow students to be free and just obeys without being aware.
Not promoting individuality makes students just follow a standardized routine. Routine just goes back to a place where things never change and just turns into must and not need , “ Is this deadly routine really necessary? ” ( Source A ) Just goes based …show more content…
Starting at a young age , many schools prepare students to know the basic in test such as the standardized tests. ( Source C ) What the people in power believe it is best for a student is not for everyone. Leaving many to be neglected for trying to conform rather than to adjust the system. Photo of children singing in school . ( Source F ) Many just follow rather than fully learn. This makes kids memorize instead of learning and giving kids the feeling of just passing and not understanding. Students will go to the real world expecting the standards of society to be one way not knowing that they can make their own lifestyle. In the rules of the school it clearly goes with standard of society “ Obey the laws of society… ” ( Source G ) Leaving students to make their own decision is what makes them take the role of responsibility and maturing. It would be monkey see , monkey do , just as if students were to be simple robots and if to be any different they can not fit into society in any way.
All in all , school should allow students to be individuals rather than to enforce conformity onto them. Schools routine is a tight circle with no endings unless it is broken. Students should be allowed to be free in at least in the laws says one should. Students should not just be forced to obey rules just because and should be entitled to persuade their perspective.
