Pursuing something new is fun and exciting, especially if the pursuit positively impacts someone else. I am grateful for the opportunity to re-enter grad school, this time at the doctorate level, to realize a dream that I’ve had since the beginning of my teaching career. My goal is to be sharp, skilled, creative and effective as a teacher and leader so that I can significantly influence the organization and overall culture of my school, other teachers, students, and the community. A necessary attribute of a great teacher should be the desire to seek ways to improve learning for all children. I am committed to learning and developing the knowledge and skills that a great leader needs to make a difference in education. I believe all students can have academic success.…

The case explains the process of introduction of INU, a Turkish University established in 2000. It aimed to assist the growth and development of areas related to economy, engineering, science, etc in Europe. Five years prior its opening, It reached 9300 students and projected to start off a new Business School. However, it faced several issues mainly: a shortage on faculty members (only 26 professors), inefficient screening selection processes and inconsistent administrative responsibilities. The new department Dean faced several issues towards guaranteeing the adequate development of this department upon his arriving and thus decided to brainstorm with its teaching staff. Perhaps the collected ideas did not help significantly, though they may assist him with his decision making in the near future. His biggest decision consists of whether continue growing (more students and staff) or guarantee quality of education (teaching and making research). Based on the main goal selected by INU, the following analysis has been made considering qualitative standards that would provide more significant outcomes in the long run.…

Latynina is quick to draw a comparison between the downward trajectory of Russia’s educational system and the upward trajectory of one of its regional rivals: China. In the time it took for all of Russia’s representatives on the list of best universities in the world to fall off of that list, China saw seven of its best schools move onto it. The author then points to an example of the incompetence of the Russian educational system. According to Latynina, four wealthy Russian students were recently arrested while racing their expensive sports cars in Geneva, Switzerland. The students in question attended the “International Branch of the Moscow State University Law Department” in Geneva. While that may sound prestigious, it turns out this school is run by a man from Azerbaijan who was wanted for fraud.…

Throughout the United States, students are enrolling in colleges and universities at records numbers. This trend is occurring in spite of the hard to swallow increases in tuition and fees by institutions of higher learning. For example, attending a two-year college in 1980 would cost a low-income family 6% of their income; in 2000, the number was 12%. Those attending four-year schools in the same period spent 13% in 1980 and 25% in 2000 (Higher Education , 2012). The cause of the increase has been contributed to higher education cost, an increase in technology, and other educationally related expenses. As a result, it has become more and more difficult for those in middle and lower-income families to attend college. The persistent increases in tuition, along with government assistance targeting certain demographics and family income not keeping pace, has made it difficult for some to earn a college degree. Therefore, as America opens her classrooms in search for her next great scientist or mathematician, she systematically locks the doors of opportunity to a large portion of her population.…
