Swot analysis of Tata motors: In this assignment I am doing the swot analysis of TATA Motors.

Strength:

Brand Name: TATA was established in 1945. Tata Motors is India’s largest automobiles company with approximately 70000 permanenet employees and it gain a revenue US Dollar 38.6 Billon at the in 2013-2014(www.tatamotors.com). Tata bought land roverand jaguar from ford group in 2008 but they didn’t change the name of the brand because jaguar and landrover are established brand in world market. motors is world’s 7th largest Bus manufacturing and 8th largest truck manufacturing company.

Robust Market position: Tata motors has a strong market position in international market .Tata is the first Indian automobile company which was in the New York stock exchange.it is the leader in producing commercial and passenger vehicle segment. Tata Motors holds a share of 16.6% of the overall Indian four-wheeler automotive vehicle industry. In the Indian commercial vehicle segment, the company holds a market share of 54.1%. In the Indian medium and heavy commercial vehicles segment, the company holds a market share of 54.9%. In addition, in the passenger vehicle market, the company holds a market share at 5.8%, with a market share of 10.7% in the compact segment, 1.6% in the mid-size segment, 5.5% in the utility vehicles (UV) segment, 36% in the premium and luxury segments, and 2.7% in the vans segment. Moreover, the company has 100% market share in the micro segment of the passenger car market in India. Tata has a unique brand collection which are Indica, Indigo, Manza, Vista, Sumo, Safari, Aria, Venture, Nano, Prima, Winger, Land Rover, Hispano, Daewoo, Jaguar, and Land Rover, among others.

Broad portfolio automobiles product: Tata motors produce a lot of product including cars, buses, medium and heavy commercial vehicles. Tata Motors sold 141,846 passenger cars.The company offers utility vehicles under the brand names of Sumo, Safari Storme, Tata Safari, Xenon XT pickup, and Tata Aria. Tata Motors also offers premium and luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) under the brand names Land Rover (Freelander 2, Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Evoque).The company also offers premium and luxury cars under the brand names Jaguar XF, XJ and XK. During FY2014, Tata Motors sold 29,409 utility vehicles. So the broad collection of product is the biggest strength of tata motors to attract clients all around the world.

Diverse geographic presence: we can say that tata motors is omnipresent . tata motors has a global distribution in 175 countries all around the and also 7000 sales point in all around the world. Tata Motors had 70 (direct and indirect) subsidiaries including 10 in India and 60 abroad as of March FY2014. Through subsidiaries and associate companies, Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand, South Africa and Indonesia. Tata Motors also market its commercial and passenger vehicles in several countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, and South Asia. The company's commercial and passenger vehicles are being marketed in several countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, South Asia.

Strong performance by jaguar and land Rover: Tata buy land Rover and jaguar from Ford group in 2008. the company acquired the global business relating to Jaguar Land Rover including three major manufacturing facilities and two advanced design and engineering centers in the UK, a worldwide sales and dealership network, intellectual property rights, patents and trademarks. Jaguar Land Rover's strength includes its internationally recognized brands, strong product portfolio of luxury performance cars and premium all-terrain vehicles, global distribution network, strong research and development capabilities, and a strong management team.
