Swimming Pool Monologue
Swimming was just not my strong point. As an adolescent, someone jumped onto me in a swimming pool, and it made me go under unexpectedly, and it scared the living daylights out of me. I tried to avoid going into any swimming pools in those days, so my intentions for this gathering was to just be a bystander. Several people were in the swimming pool and several people were sitting alongside the pool. Only a few of the toddlers were in the pool with a parent. Children were tossing the ball around as others were jumping from the diving board, as water was splashing from all directions. There was lots of hollering and loud music playing, everyone was having a grand ole time. As the day progressed, I finally decide to put my fears aside and …show more content…
As the father immediately began CPR, Mikie’s lips were already purple and his skin was beginning to turn pale. Mikie’s mother was hysterical as she watched her husband perform CPR on her little, baby boy. What seemed like a lifetime, the father painstakingly performed CPR. Within a minute, or so, Mikie spat out water. He gasped for air, then, he began to sob. A comfort came over everyone as they were watching in panic. The father and mother tried to console Mikie as he continued to cry. About ten to fifteen minutes later, emergency responders arrived at the scene. At some point through all the midst of the ordeal, we hadn’t realized that someone called emergency responders. It all just happened so quickly. The parents handed over Mikie to the paramedics so they could check him over before they departed for the hospital. The paramedics checked his heart rate and tried to place an oxygen tube on his face but he resisted. To distract the toddler, the paramedic gave him an oxygen mask to play with until he was able to place the oxygen tube again, and that appeared to have worked. Once the paramedics were able to stabilize Mikie, they proceeded to transport him to the hospital. As the ambulance drove away, the mother stayed close to her little boy in the back of the

    Wagoner, OK - On August 21st 2016, Sergeant Cody Standifird was patrolling the area of Coal Creek south of Wagoner when he observed a, Maroon Toyota Sports Utility Vehicle parked in the grass near the river bank. As Sergeant Standifird circled the parking lot area he observed the back hatch of the vehicle was open and a person lying inside. Sergeant Standifird approached the vehicle and discovered a male occupant was laying on his back with blood coving his face and head, and involuntary gasping for air. Sergeant Standifird recognized the subject was in medical distress and rolled him to his side to clear the blood from his airway. Sergeant Standifird also requested an ambulance be dispatched. While waiting for EMS the subject, subsequently identified as, Robert Lewis Potter stopped breathing. Sergeant Standifird moved Potter onto the ground and began C.P.R. While performing chest compressions a large amount of blood protruded from Potters mouth and he began breathing on his own. Sergeant Standifird, again rolled Potter to his side to clear fluids from his mouth and Potter stopped breathing again. Sergeant Standifird, again began CPR and after a short time Potter began to breathe on his own. EMS arrived on scene and transported Potter to Estar hospital in Muskogee where he is currently listed in stable condition.…
