Sustainability In Brian G. Henning's 'Riders In The Storm'

In chapter four of Brian G. Henning’s book, “Riders in the Storm,” he talks about sustainability and the different views on sustainability over the years. Sustainability, is not something that is only related to the environment it can also be related to economics and even politically. Sustainability in terms of the environment today is a term we use to describe how much of something we can use while still leaving enough for it to naturally regenerate back to the level it was a before. The task of sustaining the environment is not easy and is a challenge that humans need to take on to help future generations. Humans will need to think about what kind of character they have and their relationships not only to future generations but also other living organisms.
Sustainability is why we have looked at how many trees we have cut down over the years and are now watching that we do not cut too many down to where there is not enough to produce enough oxygen for humans. Another way sustainability is look at is in the terms of fish, we do not want to catch so
In Chapter four of Henning’s book, he says, “Within both government and the popular media, the concept of sustainability has become the most common way of referring to the needed shift in attitudes and practices in order to address the challenge of global climate change” (Henning, 100). Sustainability has been popular talk in the world in recent years due to the amount of pollution that we make burning fossil fuels and the limited amount of fossil fuels left. This is a prime example of how humans are the ones in control of the world. Humans are the ones that have been burning the fossil fuels for our own benefit making plants work harder to change CO2 back into O2 for us to breathe and also causing a global climate change due to the amount of pollution humans have
