Susan B Anthony
A theme shown in both “Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote!” and “Don’t Give up the Fight” is perseverance. They both have perseverance because in “Don’t Give up the Fight”, although Ava is being bullied by the boys on the track team, she doesn’t give up the track team and continues to try her best. In “Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote!” Susan B. Anthony shows perseverance because she keeps on fighting for women’s rights and, although she doesn’t see women’s rights because of her death in 1906, her goal did become complete. The difference between the way that Susan B. Anthony and Ava showed perseverance is that Ava completed her goal in front of a small crowd, namely her track team. But Susan B. Anthony in order to complete her goal, had to convince …show more content…
An example of the boys bullying her is what Jacob says after Coach McCoy calls Ava for roll call, “ ‘Good’ said Jacob, a runner. ‘We couldn’t live without you’ “. The coach also says “ ‘You guys are so funny,’ Coach McCoy congratulated them” right after the boys make fun of her. This shows that Ava has perseverance because these boys keep saying mean things to her like this every practice, and they even eventually broke her arm, but Ava still stayed on the track team. She didn’t just leave the track team because she was being bullied, Ava kept doing it because she loved being on the team. Ava also shows perseverance when she tells the school that these boys are doing mean things to her. This shows perseverance because Ava stood up for herself even though she may get made fun of more.

The theme perseverance is also shown in the passage “Susan B. Anthony Dares to Vote!”. An example of perseverance in the passage is in the passage when it says “She often was heckled, or worse. Gangs of ruffians sometimes broke into her lectures and threw rotten eggs at her. She was accused of undermining the home, the family, and the purity of American Womanhood.”
Susan B. Anthony shows perseverance because she continues to protest even though people are attacking her for saying what she

After watching “Iron Jawed Angels” I gained a strong sense of reality when witnessing what women had to do to achieve their independence and gain a place in a male dominated society. Up until the late 19th century, women were perceived as homemakers and were allowed only domestic duties in society but with the emerging industrial and political system women could now use their domestic skill to propel their voice in American government and society. “Dress up prejudice and call it politics” is a profound quote in the move Iron Jawed Angels, which depicts the struggle of women’s suffrage movement and its culmination in the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the constitution. The battle for suffrage was indeed a long and difficult process spearheaded by ingenious and talented women in a variety of ways, such as spreading pamphlets, public demonstration, public parade, petition to the president. All in all, women’s suffrage movement could not be encompassed by a single movie. However, the movie Iron Jawed Angles does not show us the marrow part of this movement.…

“Susan B. Anthony Dares To Vote” and “Making Sarah Cry” share a similar theme. In both “Susan B. Anthony Dares To Vote” and “Making Sarah Cry” the theme of being different is presented. “Susan B. Anthony Dares To Vote” shows the theme of being different by showing that just because she is a woman it doesn't mean she shouldn’t have the right to vote. In “Making Sarah Cry” it shows a theme of being different by having Sarah and the boy getting picked on just because they look different. Both texts show the theme in different ways. They show the theme differently in who they influenced that being different is okay. In “Susan B. Anthony Dares To Vote” Susan influences an entire nation that just because she is a woman (she is different) it doesn't…

When either one faltered, the other offered encouragement. At first, Anthony felt uncomfortable speaking in front of groups, but Stanton told her, “I have no doubt that a little practice will render you an admirable lecturer.” Likewise, when Stanton hinted that at times she was tired and thought of retiring from public view, Anthony would show up with a bag, “stuffed with acts . . . the statistics of women robbed of their property, shut out of some college, half paid for their work, the reports of some disgraceful trial; injustice enough to turn any woman’s thoughts from stockings and puddings.” When Stanton’s children were older, she and Anthony campaigned for suffrage together. As soon as they reached a town, Anthony would begin organizing—finding a hall, putting up posters, handing out leaflets.…

Anthony, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the stickiness of the 1872 trial of Susan B. Anthony, and a context introducing the new women on the progressive era. As learned in the Law of the Few, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton were connectors and salesmen for the Women's Suffrage Movement. These factors bring the qualities that Stanton and Anthony used to become successful in the epidemic of women’s suffrage. The Stickiness factor played a large part in the official tipping point of the Women’s Suffrage movement. Susan B. Anthony make a daring move to make a “sticky” statement to the United States as a women requesting for certain rights. The official tipping point has the right stickiness to attract an abundance of women to join the Suffrage Movement. Malcolm teaches his audience how the power of context creates the foundation for an epidemic. The birth of the “New Women” creates the context of women’s interest in the suffrage movement. The context of housewives and stereotypical women voicing their opinions about equal rights to men, gives the push of the tipping point of the epidemic of the Women’s Suffrage Movement of 1920 to flourish. The ratification of 19th Amendment proves how important these epidemics are, with the right factors, can change history…

One example of this would be Karthika, who always dreamt about becoming a human activist and speaking up for those who had no voice, but struggled with the discrimination she faced during her college years, due to her attending to a school where the majority of people came from upper castes. Despite feeling miserable when hearing all the disrespectful comments her classmates would say about her, she continued studying hard and trying her very best to succeed in all of her classes, so she could achieve her dream of becoming a lawyer. This is a perfect example of perseverance because even though she suffered with the discrimination coming from her college classmates, instead of simply quitting the course and becoming something else, like many others would do, she simply decided to turn her suffering into her fuel, her pain into her motivation. In addition to that, even though at times she felt discouraged and out of place, as if she didn't belong there, she didn't allow the difficulties she encountered on her journey to stop her from chasing her dreams. In the end, all her sacrifices were worth it, since she…
