Supporting Children Through Differences In Schools
SUPPORTING CHILDREN THROUGH 5 DIFFERENT TRASITIONS

STARTING HIGH SCHOOL Find out what their worries are about starting, then break those down and explain how everyone that starts H/S is going through the same feelings and emotions.Go to the H/S together and have a look around it,so it does not feel so big and strange on the first day.Meet and speak to some teachers,so that they feel reasurred about starting and not everyone at the school will be a stranger.See if the child wants you to drop and collect them for a few days until they feel happier. I would pass on any concerns I had to the parent, then work together to support the child through all their transitions, such as social and emotional problems. BULLIED Show your child that bullies are not nice people and that they have no friends if they where nice they wouldnt do what they are doing.Or maybe the bully is having their own problems at home,so maybe they are looking for a firend but dont know how to go about getting one the right way.Explain that they shouldnt be afraid of bullies as this is what makes them it all the more, tell them to say NO to the bully and to walk away, tell a teacher or grown up and dont be afraid, the bully will not do it again. If you were a childcare worker,it would be simular to that of a parent talking through any worries they may have, offer support to the parents if its needed.

When bullying is suspected or alleged the child who is being bullied, the one doing the bullying and their families all need to be supported in different ways. When a child or young person is being bullied they may be very upset and reluctant to tell anyone about it (i.e. out of fear of making the situation worst). That is why they should be listened to and reassured that telling someone was the right thing to do, that the incident is going to be fully investigated and the bullying will not be allowed to continue. When listening to a victim of bullying and recording the incident they should also be reassured that no action will be taken without talking to them first. When you’re bullied all these emotions over whelms your body. In the process of getting picked on you think to yourself what you should do and why is this happening. If you speak up and say harsh words or get even with the bully, what makes you any better? On the other hand you feel like if you walk away things will keep going as it is, so you should do something. No matter what you think is best to do at the time the only right answer is to tell them how you feel about how they treat you. Explain to the person how you feel and you do not appreciate the way they are treating you. Then go to your parents or a teacher you trust and have them help you.…

One of the first things you can do is set up a disciplinary chart where you can track people who get in trouble for bullying other students. This system could be used to figure out what kids are repeat offenders and discipline them greatly. By doing this, the bully will want to stop more so he doesn’t get in as much trouble. Also, teachers could be notified of each students bullying sheet so if they see something starting, but it doesn’t seem that bad, they can take action right away. It is sort of like nipping it in the bud.…

In conclusion, please don't raise your child to be a bully. Let them know to embrace each other's differences. Allow them to hear different point of views from different kinds of people, but always let them know that racism and bullying of any sort is definitely unacceptable. The words you use toward someone can shape them into who they are. For example with me, I learned that I need to clean up and resturants so I won't be called names which the cleaning aspect isn't bad at all. Still you can grow tired of always being judged and hurt by others over a…

Do you think that a bully is going to take someone 1 or 2 years younger than him/her seriously when they tell the bully to stop bullying? I will bet you that more than 99.999% of the time the answer will be no. Because why should the bully take someone his or her age or a bit younger seriously? However when there are teachers involved that is a whole other story. When there is a higher authority figure involved the bully will definitely be more intimidated. Let’s say the deputy principal or principal gets involved, they have the power and authority to suspend, or in some cases even expel, the bully. THIS is why it is very important that teachers are always aware of the school environment and that no one is getting bullied. Sometimes children and teenagers feel powerless against bullies, I can say from experience that I agree with that statement. I felt extremely powerless against a bully that was shorter and the same age as me.Teachers can use their people skills to talk to learners because that’s what they do every day. So it is not a difficulty for teachers to talk to their learners. The teachers have a higher authority over the learners. They also know a lot of their learners quite well, as they watch them a lot and have an idea of what they are like and how they behave outside of the classroom.…

If your child is exhibiting signs and symptoms of being the victim of already existing cases of bullying, there are a few tips and ways to teach them how to handle bullies. One of these ways is to take the matter straight to the source of the bully's parents or to the teacher or authority figures at the school if the bullying is taking place while at school. There is a misconception that if the child reports the incident to a teacher or their parent, they will be at risk for retaliation and even further bullying. However, this is typically not the case. The risk is worth it when it comes to protecting your child against bullying. Another way to teach your child how to handle bullies is to encourage them to travel in packs and maintain a solid group of friends. Having friends and a support group will make your child less likely to be the recipient of bullying attacks. Children who play alone or find…

    How to Cope with Bullies

One of the most important ways to cope with bullies at school is to tell either your teacher or another adult who is in charge. They may confront the bullies immediately and instead of just scolding them, the teacher may punish them for their actions for them to learn their lesson. The teacher may also try to explain to the bullies the pain they have caused and the negative image they are creating for themselves. You may be asked to join in to have a talk together with both the bully and your teacher, to find out the reason for bullying and to solve it. As such, by telling to your teacher or another person in charge, it can help you cope with bullies, because the problem can be dealt with swiftly and efficiently before the problem becomes worse.…
