EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Indian Railways is availed by 25 million people each day and the IRCTC caters to most of them. The most common problems faced in the Indian Railways is the delay in the scheduling of the trains. As a result there is either a shortage or excess of food supplied by the caterer. Numerous complaints about the quality of food has also been received. Through this research, we plan to identify the weak links existing in the existing system and suggest recommendations for the improvement of the same. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways that handles the catering, tourism and online ticketing operations of the railways was incorporated on 27th September, 2009. It started its full-fledged operations with effect from 1st August, 2001. Since its first year of incorporation, it has been a profit-making & dividend paying company.
