Superior Medical Devices Inc Case Study
As an Operations and Supply Chain Manager for the ACME “Medical Device Manufacturing Company, LLC,” who main goal is to provide new state of the art medical devices for hospitals. Some of the objectives and goals that are needed to be accomplished to meet these demands by our customers “Superior Medical Devices, Inc, (SMD)” is to be able to subcontract a reliable suppliers, complete production engineering process at a timely manner, verification of product quality assurance, and planning both materials and resources. On another note, there are some concerns that might occur during this business transaction that may delay or slow down the production process as to getting these medical devices into hospitals hands. I believe that good relationship and communication between a manufacturer and distributor is the key of how well the business will do and profit they will be making in the future. For SMD to maintain and receive good medical device products to supply to hospital that is in need of it. A amount of trust and communication is need to be build among them self. The information flow between ACME and SMD consist of paperwork that finalize orders and the agreement that are made between the two parties. ACME will talk to SMD about the pricing of each individual medical items that are made and the manufacturing process they will have to include for each device to meet SMD needs. ACME will provide a distribution of their operations and how much they can deliver base on the orders by SMD. ACME will also offer samples to SMD to test out those machines and willing to advertise new product line within the hospital needs for future improvements. Then afterwards, they would both set up a program or system to track the items that are being sold and brought. This is when E-commerce is highly recommended which we have learn from previous chapters and how beneficial it is especially for medical equipment products. It will give SMD the access to track orders, instant access to prices for any medical devices needed, and other merchandise tools to optimize their buying for hospital
