Superdome Reflection
Over the course of the past month, I have encountered many new experiences and skills. I have noticed that my responsibilities have increased tremendously. I not only am just an intern at the Superdome, but I am intern who is the Assistant Office Manager. With that being said, my responsibilities from last month have grown. I am continuing to create flyers for the Superdome to market their programs, but I am now brainstorming new program ideas and creating flyers to market those. I have been in contact with outside parties to help market their camps and events that will be held at the Superdome as well. For instance, there is a Football camp that will be held at the end of August from PST NYC Football. I am in contact with the head director of the clinic, Kahmal Roy, in order to get more information, build a marketing plan, and create flyers to be handed out and displayed. I have improved my creative skills as well as increased my knowledge in marketing for different events. I have learned what works, what doesn’t work, and …show more content…
In the Summer, a majority of the events that go on are camps. There are the camps that the Superdome holds, and then there are Sports camps that outside parties hold. For example, this week there is Lacrosse camp, the Superdome’s camp, and World Class Soccer camp all taking place in the Superdome. However, in the Fall, there are many more events that go on throughout the day. There are rentals from outside sports such as Field Hockey, Soccer, Football, Baseball, Lacrosse, as well as the Superdomes house programs that consist of Soccer training and introductory classes to different sports. All of these programs will begin after I begin school, however, in order for them to be successful we need to start marketing for them in August. We discussed when we would send out emails, how often we will do mailers, and how we can bring in new

Word of mouth seems to be their best way to inform. Following this would be articles in the local newspaper, then social networking (Facebook, Twitter, etc). The in-house promotions do quite well with posters, flyers, etc. Although they spread awareness, they do not help as much to raise funds. In order to continuing running their programs, the organization is going to have to incorporate a new public relations campaign that can raise the interest of the public and gain the support that they need to keep providing these resources and programs throughout the duration of their…

Throughout these organizations I am either serving as a mentor or using my media skills. For example, with Chapel Assistants I have the opportunity to help prepare for each chapel service but I also serve in the Media Ministry which is responsible for making CD’s for each service, mailing CDs to attendees, and being sure the speaker gets a copy of their sermon. I love the job because I truly get to build relationships with those that attend chapel. Within the Spotlight Network I am currently a reporter in which I report events that are going on campus. This year the Spotlight Network will have its own shows and I will serve as a reporter of the shows. With Howard Players I get work on my acting skills by attending workshops. Alternative Spring Break, was my chance to be able to spend an entire week Mentoring students at Normandy High School which is located in Ferguson Missouri. To this day I continue to mentor those students I met through email. In the Freshman Leadership Academy my freshman year all year I was taught to be a leader and even had the opportunity to travel to China and provide service. Because I am a sophomore I get to use the things I learn to help mentor a current freshman. Lastly, Matriculate is a recent organization that is affiliated with Howard’s campus in which through google hangout I mentor students in low income high school.…

Ever since I transferred to the University of Miami as an undergrad, I have had the gratification and honor to meet and work with various remarkable people, from physicians to scientists and staff. Doing research and shadowing at Miami Miller School of Medicine gave me the prospect to admire how marvelous the school and its community are. Furthermore, I have had the satisfaction to meet several professors who teach at the medical school and the prospect of learning from them is enticing. Being able to experience first-hand the compassion and care that the doctors at Miller demonstrate their patients have also confirmed that this school is not short of role models for me to follow. Additionally, I have met several students who have shared their…

“The Glass Castle” by Jeanette Walls is an extremely intriguing novel that really kept my attention throughout the whole story. The Walls family is definitely one that is unlike any I’ve ever come across, and the lessons that the children learned were ones that helped shaped their lives and made them who they are today. Jeanette obviously learned so much from her experience that she wrote a whole book about it, managing to hold the reader’s attention through all 281 pages. Jeanette Walls goes through many descriptions of situations that she faced that people normally should not face. For most of her childhood, she was traveling from place to place because her parents always thought that they would hit it big and never finding a steady job.…

Last week in class we read the Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. The book showed what's it’s like to overcome adversity at anytime even when times are bad Jeannette Walls overcame her father's alcoholism and her mother's psychoness. The family was also going through a financial crisis so with the weight of everything on her she had to get over so much for her to be able to succeed in her later life. Jeanette was a very strong and determined person and she didn’t allow herself to use the homelessness or her father’s alcohol problems but more as opportunities. She felt as if the hardships were making her who she was and it allowed her to become such a strong and humble person. I have had much adversity but this was the hardest for me. A couple…

When you think about nursing homes most people think of elderly people being stuck in a building until their last day. What they don’t think about is how these elderly people and the people around them are affected by this stage in their life. Elms Haven Center has been one of the communities I have been a part of for the past two years. I worked there as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and experienced many different situations that have impacted my life in many different ways. Elms Haven is a significant community because it has one of the best rehab programs for those who need physical therapy after an injury or surgery. This facility also accepts many different patients that have many different illnesses and ailments. The different people the facility accepts have impacts on those people around; their families and staff are those the patients impact the most.…

    A. For my news report, the intended audience was meant to be the new freshmen attending UW-La Crosse. Freshmen students are new to campus life and they want to feel like they belong here, so I decided to write an article about how to handle midterms. This audience was very important to me, because when I was a freshman I had many questions about midterms and finals but I didn’t get any information about them except from the professors.…
