As a resolution analyst at UnitedHealthcare (UHC), over ninety percent of my decisions are based on evidence provided by providers’ and members’ health policy contract and UHC reimbursement policies. The health policy contract provides payment regulations on how to correctly make a decision of either a claim is to be denied, paid or if additional steps are required. In a case where a member is asserting that an out-of-network provider should be reimbursed in-network based on their research involves investigating beyond the member’s contract and UHC reimbursement policies to justify an overturn. If the member provides proofs such as a copy of the participating provider listing on UHC's website or the provider proper Tax ID to support their…

The hospitals involved in the merger had experienced recent losses under their own separate management and the merger brought financial stability and central leadership.…

One advantage is improved efficiency and speed when carrying out various tasks. When everyone is working together as part of a cohesive unit, there is more shared responsibility and less pressure on select individuals, which usually means jobs can be done more quickly and with less unnecessary fussing involved. One drawback of teamwork in today’s health care organization is conflicts arising when colleagues fall out with one another or have issues outside of work that get in the way of their ability to work together amicably on a project. A common obstacle most teams experience is that some members of the team are always trying to be in control. When it comes to teamwork, most people will consider teamwork in terms of being part of a baseball, basketball, or football team. In contrast, a team is “really just a group of people who use their skills, experience, and knowledge to work toward a common goal” (Beverly K. Bachel, 2007). Teams working together in the workplace are extremely productive and profitable. Teams working together increase problem-solving skills and innovation, quality, and decrease turnover and absenteeism. (Scarnati, J 2006) Teams have an overall high success rate when well structured and the communication between the team members stays open throughout the project. A team is a collection of individuals who have gathered to achieve the same…

Teamwork may contribute to increased staff well-being as well as improved patient outcome. In order to effectively teach and reliably assess the quality of teamwork, it is necessary to identify the behaviours associated with effective teamwork and their interplay in relation to clinical performance ratings and ultimately to patient outcome. The main challenge to established teams is to maintain enthusiasm and momentum. This can be achieved by promptly overcoming workload obstacles, resolving conflict between individuals and giving timely feedback on performance. Staffs need to know when they do good work and once the momentum is built, it is easier to maintain and transfer across a number of activities. Overall team performance relies heavily on the individual commitment and contribution of all its established members. The effective established teams are characterised by team members who are enthusiastic, communicate trust to their time efficiently by concentrating on the most important work assignments.…

No management position is easy these days. There are many rules and regulations to follow, as well as many responsibilities that grow more over time. One of the responsibilities as a manager is to improve efficiency of the company and extend customer satisfaction. Not only does this take money, but time, skill, and teamwork. As the manager of a busy call center, the call volume has increased so much that there is an extra $20,000 to spend on improving customer satisfaction and efficiency. How can this be spent wisely to reach these goals? Teamwork is top on the list of importance because without a team, there is no business. Teams provide many things to a health care facility, as well as any other successful business. Teams are used in many different ways in other industries, such as the military, for example. This sets examples for the health care industry as to how teams might be used similarly there compared to somewhere like the government jobs. However, nothing is easy like saying the alphabet. In any industry, conflict does arise, and having the knowledge of problem solving is very good to have in order to make an educated decision for the health care organization.…
