Summer Slininger's Five Assessments
Summer Slininger After taking the five assessments within Focus 2, I learned a lot about myself. Within the work interest assessment, I scored the work interest Holland code of SIE. SIE stands for social, investigative, and enterprising. The social aspect is identified as “the helpers,” the investigative aspect is identified as “the thinkers,” and the enterprising aspect is identified as “the persuaders.” I was not aware that I excelled in these three aspects of my life. After learning about these interests, I can definitely see how I do excel in these throughout my life. When looking at my results on the values assessment, it is easy to already be aware of those. My values are something that affect my daily life and are something that I hold close to my heart. The three values that I received on the value assessment are helping others, income, and influence. My skills assessment told me that I am proficient in helping, reading comprehensions, and reasoning. These three skills are something that I enjoy and have done a good job at my whole life. I can definitely see how these skills will assist with finding the right career …show more content…
I like how I would be able to either study the brain or help patients who are dealing with mental health issues. I would also be able to run my own studies on the brain and I would love to be able to do that. Somethings that I could see myself disliking about this career and major choice would be having to talk with people who are going through hard times. It would be hard not to let myself get upset with patients, or even get extremely upset when I am not able to help someone. Another thing that I would not find ideal is that the income for a psychologist is around 60,000. This is a great income, but it is not so great when I would have to attend graduate school to become a psychologist. There would be a lot of schooling involved for not a lot of monetary

When I dream about my future, the job I can see my self being very passionate about is being a psychologist. A psychologist is a social scientist who studies behavior and mental processes. (“Psychologist”) In order for me to attain this dream I must get a Bachelor of Arts, a Masters Degree in psychology and possibly a Doctorate’s Degree in psychology depending on what kind of institution I would like to work in. I I will either receive a Ph. D. in psychology or a Doctor of Psychology (Psy. D.) degree and if I do, I will be able to work as a clinical, counseling or research psychologist. If I just decide to get my Master 's in psychology, then I could work as an industrial-organizational psychologist . I will need to take introductory psychology, experimental psychology, and statistics. The starting salaries of psychologists depends on whether they get their Master 's or Doctorate’s degree in psychology. Let 's look at the beginning salary for clinical, counseling, and school psychologists, this is where I would have to get a doctorate’s degree: I would earn…

In Psychology there are so many different careers that have gained my interest because I love learning how people function, behave, and how the brain works. The first career that truly gained my full interest is Neuropsychologist. Neuropsychologists are the ones that explore not only the brain system but they also explore behavior and the relationship between the two. This is something that interests me more than I can put into words. One of the reasons I have so much interest in this type of career is because I myself have fetal alcohol syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as well as learning disorder. Being able to study the cognitive functions of the brain such as attention, language and memory I believe will eventually help me to understand more of my disabilities and how to work past them. A Neuropsychologist is also able to evaluate people who have various types of nervous system disorders. They work closely with doctors including neurologists. Illnesses, injuries, and diseases of the brain and nervous system can affect the way a person feels, thinks, and behaves and some of the symptoms may call for a neuropsychologist. Those symptoms are memory difficulties, mood disturbances, learning difficulties as…

After the Type Focus assessment, I realized just how much I enjoy things in an orderly fashion. In my personality results I am an ISJF whom naturally focus on caring and commitment. I normally like to be on my own when completing most tasks. My strongest interest was conventional meaning like to follow set procedures and routines, which I have confirmed. Being a child welfare specialist there are certain rules you have to go by and certain steps and procedures you have to follow I know that I would do well in this job setting. Social was my second highest interest being in a career field like the one I have chosen there are times that you have to be very social I feel like I am able to make fit right in.…

This major fits with my personality because I enjoy learning how things are made up of and how they work. When I did the assessment to find my values, my top results were family and health. Both are accurate but I did not expect them to be most important to me. The high score in family may mean I should get a job that provides enough money to help support my future family. I also can get a job that doesn’t travel too often or too far, so I can send time with my parents and siblings. I also scored high in health, which I did not expect. I’m not very interested in jobs regarding health in any medical field, but maybe for animals. The third highest result was humanitarianism. I care about the well being of other people and animals so this result does seem like one of my values. This assessment helped me figure out what I think is most important to me.…
