Summer School Vs. Year-Round Schools
What is two to three months long, popular, and unnecessary? Summer Break! Educators around the world say children should attend year round schools. They state this because The United States is falling behind other countries in education (Kelsey 28). Other educators, however, are saying students and teachers need a summer break to refresh their bodies and minds and to make new lesson plans. Students and teachers should give up summer break and attend year round schools.
Joining a year round school allows students to learn more information at an accelerated rate. Studies have shown that students are more likely to forget important information over summer break than they are to forget over a short break that year-round schools offer (Yeager).
