All of the seasons are great. Winter is really fun with Christmas and the snow. Fall is also great because of the leafs and football games. But I would have to say that my favorite season of all is summer. Summer is the best, it is baseball season I love to play baseball I have been playing baseball ever since I was a kid. Baseball is the my second favorite sport (First is football). Baseball is you just play the game and have fun. Even if you are losing it is still great to be out on a baseball field having fun with your friends. For example this year my freshman baseball was pretty good but not the best. There were some games we won and some games we lost. It's always fun to win. But even when you do lose you still have a great time out on a baseball field with your team.…
1. The one aspect of Soto's life that was most interesting is when he had the three chicks. Soto had three chicks in his back yard that he was raising. He seemed fascinated by the way they just pecked around his back yard, blinked rapidly, and slept standing up. The chicks used to crawl on his shoes. He thought it was cute until one of the chicks defecated on his shoe. That angered Gary and he kicked sand in the chicks eyes. He immediately felt bad after what he had just done. This is the part of the story that made me laugh. It made me laugh because as the chapter went on, Gary became very protective of the chicks. When he kicked sand in the chicks eyes, it was very alarming. He seemed not to be a violent person.…
The main reason I believe I deserve a scholarship, is because I have worked on improving myself year after year. This place is more than just a summer camp to me, it totally changed me for the better. This camp helped me be more social, responsible, and it taught me to work and strive for greatness. I do not think any other place could have had an impact on me like this place…
The first reason I want to participate in an Alternative Spring Break is to give back to communities and help them have a brighter future. I have a passion for service and giving back because without help from others I wouldn't be where I am at today. As a result, I want to help others feel cared for and that they have opportunity as well. The second reason I want to participate is in order to learn about different cultures and see in what ways we are the same and different then them. I love to travel and see different places so the Jamaica Alternative Spring Break plays into that. I have been to parts of Europe and to Mexico but never to Jamaica or the Caribbean. Each place I have been to has taught me lots about culture and has allowed me…
Besides providing an amazing opportunity to engage with the community, the Sophomores-Serve program is exciting to me it combines two topics that I am genuinely interested…
In the shorty story, All Summer in a Day, by Ray Bradbury, the author expresses a tone of enthusiasm and excitement. On the planet Venus, the sun only comes out once every seven years, and when it does, it only stays out for about two hours. Margot is a 9 year old girl who was only two years old the last time her eyes met the luminous sunlight. She has dreamt about this day ever since she made that contact, and today is finally the day that she gets to feel that warm sun beaming down on her again. Because she was so caught up in her own little creative world, dreaming about this day, Margot typically shut the rest of the world out, which included her fellow class mates. Margot’s class mates don’t like her so they pick on her, and bully her every single day, all due to Margot not wanting to play games and sing songs with them unless they have something to do with the sun coming out. As a result of their hatred for her, the students decided to lock Margot in the closet when the teacher decides leave the room for a few minutes to prevent her from seeing the sun come out. All of the children surround the window as they know that something magnificent is about to occur. The typical rainy weather finally comes to a stop and everything becomes absolutely silent. So silent that they can hear each others presence. They can’t even hear Margot ‘s pounding on the walls of the closet doors begging to be released. As the sun at last creeps through the mist of the ugly rain clouds in the sky, the children are filled with joy and playfulness. Just then, the teacher comes back into the room and shouts “Who wants to play!” All of the children race outside to play in the glorious sunlight and let the fire burn their craving bodies. Page 8 describes the terrain and environment of plant Venus at this very moment, “They stopped running and stood in the great jungle that covered Venus, that grew and never stopped growing, tumultuously, even as you…
Doing this summer school program is a lot better than actually doing the real school because it would take most of my school year to pass a class and here it took me like 5 weeks to do it and now I am passing this class. In here they teach you so many other ways to do things and how to look at things in a different perspective. I would rather do summer school again for another class because it is a lot better in summer school than the actual…
During my summers in Upward Bound, I have learned a lot from the director, Ms. Norma, who taught me the importance of working with others and doing everything in my power help others as well myself. Every summer I participated in a community service event hosted by the LA Food Bank where we packaged over 60,000 pounds of food for the homeless. It felt delightful to know that I was able to make someone’s day a little better and it motivated me to do more.…

Motivation is basically about the desire of one to achieve something as motivation act as a force that pushes us towards performing an actionand finally bringing us the achievement. For example, when we are thirsty, we will go get a glass of water to quench our thirst. Here, quenching our thirst is set as our motivation and the act of getting a glass of water to drink is the performing action. This shows us that motivation is what causes us to act. Hence, motivation can also be said as a process that initiates, guides and maintains our goals until we achieve it. From the resource, Lifehack (n.d.),there are six different types of motivation which can influence different person behavior in its own unique way because each of us has our very own personalities and characteristics.Majority of people can be motivated by incentive, fear, achievement, growth, power and social factors. Incentive is a motivation that involves reward as people are driven by the facts that if they achieve a certain target, they will be rewarded. While fear motivation involves consequences such as when a person is in fear of getting punish he or she will try their best to achieve their targets. Next is achievement motivation which happens when people are driven to compete with others or themselves. The feeling of achievement is their desire motivation. Other than that is the motivation of growth. It happens when people desire self-improvement such as increasing their knowledge or skills. Next is the motivation of power where people are in desire to control everything within their means to achieve something. Furthermore, many people are motivated by social factors too. This can be their desire to be accepted or belong to a specific peer group. It is important to understand the different types of motivation so that we will be able to determine which form of motivation is the most effective one for inspiring our desire in achieving target. As there is a saying goes, “the will to succeed is important…

In process of time many values are being changed and so does the motivation for doing sport. Some time ago the aim was to win a competition or to defend the honour of the motherland, but now sport is more about personal fame and earning money. This may cause a wrong approach in view of children and young people who are easily affected by media.…
The Teen LIFT program would be very beneficial to me because I believe it will open up new pathways of opportunities for young ladies to focus on the skills needed to function as a whole being when entering the various fields of their choice. Growing up in Orangeburg, SC, I have not had a lot of cultural enrichment opportunities until I became a member of the Delta GEMS program. I have learned so much in the GEMS program and I know that by participating in the Teen LIFT program this summer, my hopes and dreams of becoming a better citizen will only increase my knowledge and skills of becoming a better leader.…
The main goal of all summer camps in the USA is for young people to learn responsibility whilst doing activities that involves travelling, meeting new people internationally, experience different cultures and a whole lot of other activities that is practicing social skills.
