The Not So Perfect Utopia

“No one believes more firmly than comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your own decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where where should we be?’ This quote came from Animal Farm by George Orwell and shows that in dystopian novels something is taken away from the characters and in Animal Farm it is the ability to make their own decisions, and this shows that mankind’s fascination with establishing “perfect” worlds is due to people thinking that it is possible for a perfect world but something must be taken away for it to be “perfect”. Then the main characters find out what has been taken from them and they rebel against something bigger than themselves. This is depicted in Divergent, Lars Farf, and The Giver.

I know this because in the Veldt the parents buy a house that does everything for them, including the nursery that can make anything you think of come alive. In The Veldt the dad says “ But I thought that's why we bought this house, so we wouldn't have to do anything?” This shows that in dystopian novels a human's natural right is taken away and in this it is the sense of caring and responsibility. Now because of this they are forgetting how to do simple tasks such as tying as tying their shoes. They also forget how to take care of themselves and their kids thus making them lose their purpose in their kids lives. This proves my claim because then their responsibility is taken away and they must “rebel” against the house, by shutting it down and going on a vacation. The mom also says “"Maybe I don't have enough to do. Maybe I have time to think too much,"
