Accountability pertains all the processes and procedures of being responsible to any area that is designated to a person. The health care industry is a very sensitive sector of the economy and therefore maximum accountability is required. The fact that the industry deals exclusively with the people makes it very sensitive. It has to ensure that whatever activity it undertakes, be it curative or preventive processes, it is done with the maximum care that is needed to prevent any calamities that may arise out of carelessly handling people. Accountability in the sector is a complex process involving many areas in the industry.
Accountability in the health care industry ensures that there is careful handling of the public resources allocated per department in the organization. This means that whatever amount of resources allocated be it in terms of money or goods, they should be handled with care and used to ensure maximum benefits to all the people.
