Summary Of To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee
Have you ever seen a mockingbird before? They are beautiful creatures that “don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us...” as said in To Kill a Mockingbird. Harper Lee, the author of this inspiring book, expresses a metaphorical way of mockingbirds by using people as an example. Thinking about the billions of people on Earth, there are always ones who do nothing but try to get through the day, the innocent ones who don’t deserve any harm. Lee gives many examples of mockingbirds in the book such as Mayella Ewell, Boo Radley, and Jean Louise Finch or Scout.
Mayella Ewell is a 19-year-old who loves her father even though it is clearly evident that he beats her. She is a mockingbird

She doesn’t want to tell anyone because she loves him and knows that he loves her. A song that Mayella would sing as a mockingbird is “In My Blood” by
Shawn Mendes. As the lyrics profess, “Help me/It’s like the walls are caving in/Sometimes I feel like giving up but I just can’t/It isn’t in my blood.” Mayella’s song would be like a call for help because there is no doubt that she just wants to be loved and be happy with her life. And she isn’t and is losing hope that she will be able to find her way out. She most likely thinks about giving up abundantly, but knows that her siblings can’t live on their own, so she stays. If Mayella were
Ducasse 1 to sing another song, it would be “Remind Me to Forget” by Kygo. The lyrics are “Baby, I got these scars reminding me to forget/Reminding me, I got these scars...You left your

If Scout were to be a mockingbird, her song would sound similar to “Tomboy” by
Lainey Wilson. As the lyrics claim, “If you get outta line I’ll let you know/might even tell ya where to go/Don’t fool yourself thinking I’m some beauty queen.” This song would most likely be pointed towards Aunt Alexandra exclaiming that Scout is a tomboy and she should accept that. After all, she is only six and she has a lot of her life ahead of her. Her aunt shouldn’t be worrying about that at the young, innocent age that she is right now. Sure, Scout would definitely want to go swimming with her brother in the lake than dress up to go to a Missionary Circle, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This song expresses Scout’s playfulness and the fact that she doesn’t want to grow up into the “lady’s world.”
Conclusively, even though mockingbirds don’t sing their own original song, they still make it as meaningful and angelic as ever. These characters were important parts of the book with their own personalities and beautiful songs. It doesn’t matter what song you sing, but how it is sung and who sings it. These songs embody the disposition of Mayella, Boo, and Scout.

To Kill A Mockingbird was and still is one the first novels I read as a teenager, that led me to wonder about society and the judgement's we place on individuals. That it is easy to assume and believe the rumors, rather than being the template in pursuit of factuality. Scout was that person. She was a very small child and when you don't know or understand something due to your age, you have to believe what others do and say is in fact, acceptance. She had no choice but to accept what she was told. As the story goes on, Scout listens and learns, much more than she could have imagined.…

The feelings and exhibited concern and empathy for other is too extreme. When defending Tom Robinson, during the court case he questions Mayella Ewell with courtesy and respect. Mayella is an uneducated girl whom Atticus believes is lying about being raped by Tom Robinson. Mayella is rude to Atticus saying "Won't answer a word you say long as you keep on mockin' me." (page 200). However Atticus remains calm and polite, never attempting to trick her. He addresses her as "miss" and his own daughter Scout "wondered if anybody had ever called her ma'am or 'Miss Mayella' in her life." (page 201). Atticus shows an empathy towards Mayella, he knows she is like a wounded animal and he doesn't want to hurt any further. The caring and concern presented by Atticus Finch is too idealistic. This extreme idealistic portrayal extends to his role as a single father and a…

To Kill A Mockingbird was told through the eyes of an older Jean Louise “Scout” Finch, describing her past and how she viewed things as a naïve and idealistic young girl. At the beginning of the book, being only six, we learn that Scout was quite immature and has yet to develop as a person, being easily confused with new terms, not knowing how to handle situations unknown to her and tries to resolve her problems using her fists and talking to Atticus about what transpired to her throughout the day. As the novel progresses and she gradually grows up to an eight-year-old, she begins to understand and realizes Maycomb’s true colours, accepts that racism and prejudice exists, and the world isn’t as nice and sunny as she thought it would be.…

Mockingbirds are birds that does one thing; Making music for us to enjoy and nothing else to harm us. In the remarkable novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the mockingbird is used as symbolism for real people. Including the human mockingbirds, the novel represents other pieces of the prejudice such as racism and hypocrisy. In the little town of Maycomb in its 1930¡¯s, the prejudice was an accepted concept for every individual and Atticus even called it a ¡®disease¡¯ of the town. This time-honored perception, prejudice, was very distinctly shown in the novel from its characters and the society. Prejudice does not seem like a such a big deal in the novel as it actually is now…

Throughout the novel, a symbol of “mockingbird” appears. The title “To Kill a Mockingbird” has a true meaning to it, and that is: the oppression of the innocent. Miss Maudie explains in the novel that, “'Mockingbirds don’t do one thing, but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.'” In the novel, the mockingbirds are innocent people who are harmed by injustice, and in unnecessary ways. Several times in the novel, the oppression of the innocent is displayed. Jem for one, is a mockingbird. He is innocent, but assaulted by Bob Ewell, purely on vengeance, only because Atticus defended Tom Robinson, and he wanted to get pay back. Boo Radley is also a mockingbird. He is emotionally damaged by his cruel father as a child, but everyone leads to believe that he is a creepy maniac. Scout mentions near the end of the book, “'Well it'd be sort of like shootin' a mockingbird, wouldn't it?'” (page 370) This refers to Boo Radley and how Scout feels if they were to hurt Boo Radley anymore; he has suffered enough from their injustice community. Another mockingbird is Tom Robinson. He was charged guilty of raping May Ewell, even though he was likely to be not guilty. There was not enough evidence against him, but he was still convicted. After his death, Mr. Underwood compares his murder to “the senseless slaughter of songbirds”. This is once again, referring to mockingbirds, and the oppression…
