Summary Of The Book 'The Sniper'
The most interesting thing I know about the main character in this book is that Max has wings and can fly, she also has special powers. Max and her flock use their powers to fight off evil people who want to destroy the world. In the book it says that they got their wings from scientists who turned them into freaks. The reason being is because their parents didn’t want them anymore. The flock had to survive in cells for about 14 years.

One thing else that is an interesting thing that I know about Max is that she will do anything to protect the flock from getting hurt. The book says they were in an air show and then a sniper came and attacked and Max sent everyone out to a safe hiding spot while she fought off the sniper. Max wanted to do this because the flock meant everything to her. They grew up with Max and she always protected them. The reason max protects the flock is because they're the only family Max has got left.

The Flock eventually finds out that the FBI agent is working against them and that she works for the people that created the Flock. This causes them to run away and find a new place to stay. War has no boundaries like age, family, and time of day. In the story,”The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty a sniper is stationed on a rooftop near O’Connell Bridge and is tasked to “take out” any hostiles. While staking out, the sniper got shot in the arm by a fellow sniper and is faced many challenges in order to survive. Despite the Sniper’s skill, the sniper is realizing how war shows no mercy. When O’Flaherty wrote,“He paused for a moment, considering whether he should risk a smoke. . . He decided to take the risk . . . Almost immediately, a bullet flattened itself against the parapet of the roof.” Because war waits for no one, the sniper had to consider the consequences of smoking before he smoked. This shows how brutal war is, someone can’t…

The sniper is a trained marksman and observer, who can locate and report on the enemy, and can stalk and kill with one shot unseen. All through World War I, expert marksmen were regularly utilized as a part of the trenches with an end goal to take out enemy officers in the forefront of the opposing trench. It was a mode of mutual harassment between enemy fronts. Snipers have been an integral part of wars throughout history and World War I snipers are no exception.…

The movie, American Sniper, has definitely been one of the most anticipated and controversial films of 2014. The movie is directed by Clint Eastwood, and stars Bradley Cooper. This movie tells the unique and complicated story of former navy seal, Chris Kyle. Chris Kyle is mostly known as the most lethal sniper in U.S military history. Chris had 160 confirmed kills in total of all of his tours of duty. Unfortunately, Chris Kyle was killed at a gun range by a former marine who had a history of mental illness. Chris Kyle released a book called “American Sniper,” which later developed into a film. The movie was made in memory of him and to tell his story. This movie is a very touching war film. The care and passion that was put into this movie is clearly shown through the acting, cinematography, realistic war scenes, and dedication from the actors. This movie not only speaks to those who loved Chris Kyle, but also to those who have family members serving or have served in the U.S. Military. Max is not like typical female characters in other general books, like those that are flimsy and girlish. Max stands at the highest point of the hierarchy that she belongs, and needs to act as the leader, as the one who can take control of what is happening around her. She somewhat reminds me of Katniss in the book “Hunger Games”. Both girls are under immense pressure of substantial dangers and need to step over the level of being a “girl” into a individual being that can take hold of oneself and others. At the start of the story, Max has a straightforward goal of searching for her flock’s parents, and is able to pull her flock through many dangers with the help of the hope in her mind. However, towards the end, Max and the rest of the flock realize how the searching of their parents is completely useless. With her goal perished, Max temporarily falls into a state of distress and hopelessness. Nevertheless, Max soon trounces the dilemma and return to her original self-assertive character, even a…

The book Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson is about six kids named Max, Fang, Iggy, Gazzy, Nudge, and Angel. They call themselves the flock because they all have bird genes in their DNA; and they all have wings and can fly. They got the genes from a place called the School. The School is a place where scientists create mutants. Four years ago the flock escaped with the help of one of the scientists there, Jeb Batchelder. Two years after their escape, Jeb disappears and everyone assumes he is dead.…

The novel that I’ve read—Maximum ride: The Final Warning, by James Patterson is the fourth book in the series of Maximum Ride. The story is very detailed, and also very thrilling with an amazing climax. There are several main characters in this story: Iggy, Angel, Fang, Maximum—or Max, Nudge, Gasman—or as he preferred—Gazzy, and finally their dog—Total. Now these aren’t regular kids, and their dog isn’t very regular either. They were created in a lab, and had special abilities, but their major skill is that they all have wings, and they can all fly—except Total, his wings are still growing as he just got them. The flock—as they called their group has escaped from the lab they were originally created at called “The School”, and they were also unsure of their own ages.…

“War does not determine who is right - only who is left.” This quote was written by Bertrand Russell, a British author, mathematician, and philosopher. This quote explains that in war it does not matter whether or not you do the right thing, but whether or not you know how to survive. This quote relates to Liam O’ Flaherty’s short story and Thomas Hardy’s poem. In “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty and “The Man He killed” by Thomas Hardy both literary works show similarities and differences by the use of plot, irony, and theme.…

Every wondered how much a title or name can mean to someone? There is almost always a larger meaning behind the name of a company or the title of a book. Without truly studying and analyzing the title it may not seem that important. My book American Sniper has a very short title but when you truly look at the two words there is more to them than what may come to the mind at first. The word American, and sniper are both really important words that when put together have a very strong meaning especially to Chris Kyle.…

Dragons, witches, princesses and knights. These are the imaginary friends in so many children's lives. For young adults, those fairy tale characters give way to darker characters and more realistic situations. However, what do they all have in common? They live in short stories Two stories that are interesting are "The Sniper" by Liam O'Flaherty and " A Sound of Thunder" Ray Bradbury. Both center around grow men have guns to kill something. The Sniper in "The Sniper" has part of the army trying to take out enemies. Eckels is trying to hunt a T.rex back in the past to win $10,000. While there are some obvious similarities, both authors approach these stories, specifically the characters, tone and point of view, in different ways.…

It is through imagination that children learn valuable lessons in life that have no boundaries. Jonze explores Max’s emotions throughout his journey. When Max travels to the where the wild things are the wild things made him their King. When KW brought Bob and Terry back to the fort and introduced them to everyone Carol got upset “I don’t talk to owls. Owls are stupid! I don’t know why she likes them so much.” This is like the situation Max has in real life where his mother has invited her new partner for dinner and Max’s mum gave all her attention to her partner and none to Max. Their emotions both went from happy to destructive and then to depressed. Each creature resembles a bit of Max and his behaviour. He learns about his uncontrollable emotions mostly through Carol. Throughout Max’s journey he tries to find out who he really is. He arrives as an explorer and a Viking that has strong powers. Towards the end of the film he says “I’m not a Viking, or a King, or… or anything. I’m Max.” The music played a big part in this scene, the child singing meant that he was slowly growing, finding out and admitting to himself who he really was.…

The two books I read were “You Are A Badass” by Jen Sincero, which I reviewed on my blog (See Appendix A, ) and “Lady Midnight” by Cassandra Clare. What I learned from this exercise was finding time for things is not that difficult. I started to see new opportunities to spend my time reading. I brought the book I was reading with me every day to school. Even if I did not read the day before it would still stay in my bag for the next day. Instead of listening to music on my commutes home I would read. Instead of binge watching a show I was slightly interested in I sat down and read. Accomplishing my first book of the year, “You Are A Badass,” set the tone for the rest of the semester. It showed that I could focus on one thing and read a book…
