Summary Of Looking For My Gypsy Roots
I watched the video “Looking for my Gypsy Roots” which is about a man of Roma descent who is an orphan. He grew up in an orphanage in Hungaria, and now after many years wants to find out more about his parents and most importantly Roma culture. What do you think motivated this man to seek out and possibly embrace a devalued culture? I think what made him want to find out more, were the people he grew up with in the orphanage. They might have always talked negative about Roma people, but that only made him more curious. Also, he felt he was never truly accepted, so he could have felt closer to his own culture if he knew more about it. What is linked to this video besides stereotypes is also racism, “Racism the belief that members of separate

This can be taken as an exaggeration of how some individuals and certain advocates of various ideologies will typically try taking the highroad to make themselves look better while disrespecting someone they are not fond of just as much. The alt-right man in the video continues to berate the black man based on assumptions made over negative stereotypes about the African American race, making it seem as though the alt-right man is focusing all his hatred towards this other individual making him into some kind of an outlet for his prejudice. The alt-right man in the video continues to scorn the black man over assumptions without regard for any of his responsibilities. Afterwards, the alt-right man begins talking about how he has members of his family that are black as an attempt to shift any accusations of racism away from himself. Following this, the alt-right man proceeds to talk about how the United States should try harder to keep Mexicans out or at least move them to lower income areas to shift his prejudice and possibly relate with the black man he’s talking to. Next, the alt-right man narcissistically holds himself to a metaphorical pedestal for looking up to historical figures like Einstein while he assumes the…

Another example of stereotype I saw in the movie was when a young Hispanic man was changing the locks in Sandra Bullock’s house. She took a look at him then turned around told her husband that she wanted to have the locks changed again the next day because he was a thug and was going to sell a copy of their key to one of his homeys. She just saw his exterior and made the assumption not even knowing he was a hard-working man and an amazing father to his little girl.…

The stereotypes shown in the movie depict that asians are good at fighting. They show that the asian that is one of the main characters is the best in the land. Able to take on a whole army of soldiers and has to protect the non-asian character simultaneously. Then there is the white character that is stereotypical as well. In the film, they show that the white boy is unable to defend himself against anybody but pretends that he can. He shows the stereotype that all americans like to watch TV and look up to asians as better overall, making a fool of himself without knowing over and over…

Leading into the beginning of the video the cultural diversity is obvious. People of all different color, race, and background. This technique displays the many differences they all have, yet under the umbrella we call our great nation we are all one in the same. The ad also shows us, no matter your color or background we all have the same rights under the constitution our founding fathers left behind. Vineet Mehr was even quoted in an interview saying “we're using facts and data to prove it. This is not fluffy marketing. These are facts.”…

The social-psychological theory is quite astounding in this film. Each race shows frustration and aggression towards the other groups. Such as when Radio Raheem came into Sal's pizzeria he was rudely asked to turn off his radio. He strikes back at Sal with a similar attitude towards the situation, which in my mind was more then appropriate.…

The men began their journey to the United States when they got on their very first airplane to Belgium for a connection flight to New York. There we witness the men embark on their first cultural shock. At the airport, the men are obviously amazed at the diversity of races since they’ve grown up only knowing one, African. Most North Americans grew up with a diverse culture around them so walking down the street and seeing someone who isn’t the same skin tone as you is never really…

The video “A Class Divided” was about an exercise in discrimination. Jane Elliot, a 3rd grade teacher in an all-white town in Iowa, decided to teach her students about discrimination and the effects that it has on people. She started the exercise by asking her class about national brotherhood week, what it means to them, and if there are people in America who are not treated like brothers. Her students told her yes, that black and Indians were not treated as brothers.…

So the first issue is mainly a white culture problem; white people like to categorize those who do not look white and put the non whites into groups based on the color of their skin. Whites like to group together that which they do not understand. Man has been taught to not want to understand other cultures, this was apparent in the movie. Even the men of other races didn't understand each others background, or where they were coming from. It is important that if one wants to understand a race that they have to have an openness towards that culture.…

The separation of races in different cultures is usually in order to add this stigma that one group of people is inferior to another. Here in America race is based largely as binary opposition between black and white, and this system for much of America’s history has oppressed other races (Nanda and Warms 249). These racial laws have been focusing on the idea of white purity, and as it states in the video keep other races from tainting white blood (ABC News 2003). Early Americans basically had to keep this insinuation that blacks were inferior so that they could be kept under control, and used in the slave trade, and later this led to the segregation of blacks and whites when the slave trade ended. A great example of this was Samuel Morton…

We probably act the way the author explains in his essay due to our own life experiences but should not just hold that as something to keep in our minds, because not everyone is the same. Look at Staples now, his essay is now being given out in English classes for students to write their personal thoughts on it. This comes to show that as putting this article out it allows readers of the same kind of situation to give them the confidence and strength to not give up. We as people of the same human race should learn to accept people of every type of ethnicity for us to be greater…
