Summary Of A & P By John Updike

In the short story “A&P” by John Updike, the narrator, Sammy, is strung between his summer job and a summer time fling; in the end he is debating whether or not he made the right decision. Sammy is a young, 19 year old teenage boy that works as a clerk at the local grocery store, A&P. In what seems to be a quiet small community, three girls walk into A&P in nothing but bathing suits; he instantly notices their physical assets they are flaunting when shopping for an item.
