Ron Hansen’s short story, My Kid’s Dog, is meant to be a funny story about revenge, irony, and hatred. This typical story is about a man who hate his children’s dog. Throughout the story the father tells us about the dog from his experience and his relationship with it. The father also comes across as though he does not realize why his wife and kids are so fond of the dog and does not take kindly to the fact that the dog acts perfect around them. In the story the dad uses sarcasm and irony to explain to the audience the things the dog has done that makes him feel how he does towards him. In the beginning of the story the narrator made it very clear by stating, “My kid’s dog died. Sparky. I hated that dog. The…

Music can be more than just something to dance or sing along to. It is also a form of art and a way for people to let their feelings out in a different way. Many people write music to express any sort of feeling, such as happiness, anger, and depression. By putting out their music they can connect to their fans, friends, and family in a way that is easier for them and everyone can find a way to relate to them. The songs “From Dog to God” by Prayers, “Undercover Martyn” by Two Door Cinema Club, and “Hey You” by Pink Floyd all express the effects of isolation and how it gets in the way of their lives.…

Opal tells him everything that she wishes she can tell to her mom. It all started like this, Opals dad asked opal to go to the store and buy milk and eggs. When Opal just steped into the store there was a man that worked in the store yelling “there are No dogs aloud inside the store who’s dog is that”. Opal turned around and saw a dirty filthy big and really ugly dog messing up the store. The man said that if no one claimed the dog then he would have to call the shelter to come pick it up. Then a second after he said that Opal screamed (he’s mine!). Then the man asked if he is yours then can you make him come to you? Opal got very nervous the second he said that. Then the dog and Opal made eye contact and smiled at each other. Opal called the dog and said come boy come Winn Dixie. And the dog gave her a weird look and 2 seconds later got closer and closer to her and finally came to opal and licked opals hand. After that opal took the dog home and told him to stay in the backyard while she whent to ask her dad if they can keep it.
