Summary: Aire Libre Elementary School
As I referenced before my passion and the enjoyment I feel when I’m around children peaked my interest in this career field. I volunteered at an elementary school during the fall in the afternoons. In Aire Libre Elementary School the After the Bell program, kids stayed after school to do homework or get extra lessons in subjects they were struggling in. When I first started I mainly worked with first and second grader, the group was very small condensed with first and second so I interacted with each one. I made a connection with each student learning their strengths and weaknesses. I was then asked to help with one of the third grade classes as they were more rowdy and easily were distracted. The teacher allowed me to take individual groups

I enjoyed being with children so much that my first “real-world” paying job was at a summer camp. Between volunteering at the church Vacation Bible School and working at the summer camp I realized I have a great connection with children and can help make a difference in their lives and that is what I seek to do. I have since been employed at a few different childcare facilities along with a music store and book store but no matter what I always found myself returning to working in either a childcare or school…

I started out as a sub. I did not go to any pieces of training when they hired me when I got called in for the first time they just put me in the classroom that needed the extra help. When I first walked in, I felt very uncomfortable, because I was nervous if I did anything out of the ordinary or if I mess up the lesson plan. I also did not know to interact with the children. Thankfully I had an old high school friend, Cecilia Ceja, who was in the same room.…

I interviewed a friend of mine who tutors at a middle school. She has been tutoring for three years. Her reasons for volunteering are that she enjoys helping kids learn and believes that education is a very important thing. The organization that she volunteers for goes to the middle school every morning and tutors the kids who have difficulty with their classes. An organization like this is needed in our community because everybody in my town does not believe that education is important for the future and tutoring children at a younger, more impressionable age makes an impact. She described her love for watching kids get excited about learning and doing their work. “Every time we all walk into the room, the kid’s race to their tutor, eager to learn more,” she said. As…

I have had experience volunteering with the Urdd, supervising groups of primary school children at Glan-Llyn; where another member of staff and I were responsible for a group of children while they took part in various activities. Each Tuesday morning for the last year, I have volunteered at Ysgol Gynradd Cemaes at the Infants' department, where I helped the children with their work and spent time with small groups of children on specific tasks. During my time volunteering at Ysgol Gynradd Cemaes, I also spent time with pupils who suffered from learning difficulties, and this helped me to see how certain tasks have to be adapted in order for pupils of varying abilities to succeed. I have also played a large part in the process of transferring pupils in my school's catchment area from primary school to secondary school, by volunteering as a Year Twelve buddy, providing a point of contact at the school for the pupils if they felt in any way uneasy or upset. I was also part of a group of Year Twelve students who ran an arts club for pupils from years 3-9 where primary school children were introduced to the school and some of its current pupils and students through a series of arts and performance workshops. Through…

I want to be able to offer my great knowledge and experiences, to one day improve the lives of so many little ones. I have loved working with children from a very young age, ever since I had to technically help my parents with raising my own siblings. And I have had the privilege to currently be employed in a daycare where I am able to work with kids, and observe them in there most natural state. I even find it funny when I catch my self observing these toddlers and preschooler’s speech when they are having a regular conversation; as I try to listen for any misarticulated sounds. Now it has become a natural instinct of mine when I am around…

I decided to become an early childhood professional because kids are simply my passion. Even though working with children may not always be easy, its still worth it. Some days can be frustrating, and we may need to go take a breather, but there’s always something in my head telling me to not give up. When I’m around kids, I feel like I forget everything that's around me, I forget what’s going on. If I arrive in a bad mood, when I sit down with a child, my mood changes. I have babysat for the past few years and my passion for kids have grown larger and larger throughout the years. I feel like since when I started this program a year ago, I've come a long way, and I’m not afraid to be silly with the kids anymore.…

During my time as a volunteer, I helped children with their reading homework. I helped them read stories and answer wh- questions according to the story. I have worked at a summer camp in the summer of 2015 for two months. From the morning until the noon, I was a counselor for children in 5th grade to 8th grade. My mornings consisted playing a sport with the children and then arts and crafts. From the noon until the end of camp I was a one-on-one counselor for a child with Autism. As I continue work and education, I have realized that I would like to be a licensed lead teacher in a child care center. One day I would like to open a center of my own, preferably in my home. I have worked with children that have special needs and would like to further my knowledge of that. I enjoy all ages but really enjoy young toddlers. It is so rewarding to see the smile on their face when they learn something new. I enjoy learning about the developmental stages, skills and abilities of children.…

Interviewing my son’s preschool teacher, Ms. Contreras, was a wonderful experience. I learned so much about the field and I was able to connect understand her as not only an educator but as a person; as the type of person who does well in this career field. Ms. Contreras is a California state preschool teacher and has been for 20 years. She holds an AA and a BS in Early Childhood Development and loves her job very much, and has decided to stay at the preschool level until she retires. Like any educator, she believes that it is important for parents to be involved with their children’s education. She encourages parents to come and volunteer whenever they are able, and has monthly parent meeting so that the parents are up to date with what is going on in the class room. To Ms. Contreras, the most important thing about being an early childhood educator is that you are an advocate; and advocate for children and their education. That you have and need to understand that children are all different and unique and they all deserve to be in a preschool program no matter what their income or background. Her favorite thing about being a teacher is the innocence of the children at this age; she loves how pure the minds are of her students are. She wishes she can change the fact that preschool is only three hours long, but with state funding so low, that is all she is able to do, and less assessing. She feels that is keeps her from understanding her students and attending to what they need help in. Family is very important to Ms. Contreras so when she had her children, she knew that she needed a career that will work around her children, thus leading her to pick the field in education. She loved the idea of being a break as her children were on break, home when their home at school when they’re at school is how she put it. While conducting the interview, I sensed a vibe…
