Suicide Causes and Effects
Thousands of people commit suicide each year, but how many people actually take the time to find out why they took they're lives? That is one of the main things I wanted to find out in my project. Why people commit suicide and whether or not their peers could have detected warning signs. I want to know what they're thinking about when they just about to kill themselves, or at least an idea of what could be going on in there heads. Whether they're scared, confident that this is the right choice, completely wasted from drugs or freaked out by the thought of it but still seem to find the last bit of fortitude to kill themselves. When I was in the fifth grade, my class had seen a video on suicide. That was probably the first time the issue was brought right in front of me. I had heard of suicide before hand, but I didn't realize how serious an issue it was. It was depressing to see how sad their friends and families were after their death. The whole suicide issue had caught my attention back then. To be honest, it was most likely because the teacher who showed us the videotape and taught our drug prevention classes was pretty cool. I couldn't totally grasp the idea of someone taking their life over problems I thought could have been easily solved. Even after four years I still don't completely get it. However, I do know that being a teenager is stressful and filled with incomprehensible feelings that we usually don't know how to deal with or express. Unfortunately I don't know all too much about this topic, but I guess that's why I'm researching it. I also want to learn what the signs of suicide are. If everyone knew what the signs were, many lives would be saved. I think many people know the symptoms, but few actually pay attention to their surroundings to realize that their friends and/or families are having problems. Another thing I want research is what are the most common trends in suicide. Do kids in urban areas commit suicide more often than kids in rural

According to Item C, suicide is a difficult topic to study because those who commit suicide are not available tor research as they are already dead. However, they might leave behind certain qualitative documents such as suicide notes, diaries, blogs etc. This allows the coroner to investigate and interpret the messages and also compare them to previous suicide cases. However, there are often problems of access to qualitative documents. Such as, diaries are mostly kept personal or otherwise removed by family members. Also, not every person who committed suicide writes suicide notes, this leaves the coroner clueless to classify the death as a suicide. Besides, it is often difficult to find those who have attempted suicide in order to conduct comparisons and further investigation.…

Statistics show that suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for adolescents between the ages ten and fourteen. Also, the Center for Disease Control reports that it is the third leading cause for death, behind accidents and homicides of people aged fifteen to twenty four (teensuicidestatistics). 14.5 percent of high school students have made actual plans for committing suicide. In the United States someone dies by suicide every sixteen minutes and someone attempts every one minute. Internationally about one million people die by suicide each year more than war and homicide combined. 2/3 of suicidal deaths occur on the first attempt. Girls think about attempting suicide about twice as much as boys do. Boys, however, are actually four times more likely, than girls, to actually die by killing themselves. Each suicide death, intimately and profoundly affects at least six people (peoplepreventsuicide). In 1997, more adolescents died from suicide than AIDS, cancer, heart disease, birth defects and lung disease (ncpamd). Suicidal people think that there is no one out there to care for them. I believe the main cause of suicide is the effects of society. We all have our own personal problems and stressful life events that we go through. A stressful life event may range from a break up between a boyfriend and girlfriend/ divorce of husband and wife, a death or loss of a significant loved one, or society not excepting people sexual orientation (gay, lesbians, transgender). All of these factors can take a toll on a person’s emotions. Whatever the problem may be, we must ask ourselves: “if suicide is a choice for us, would it be worth ending my life because of this problem?” People who commit suicide probably figure that whatever the stressful life event they may be experiencing is not worth living through. The people who commit suicide failed to realize that suicide is a permanent solution to what could be a temporary…

He fastly discovered quickly that he was still not academically strong, and as he headed into middle school it bothered him deeply. When he was in 5th grade one of the kid found out about his learning disability and began to bully him at school. Ryan was only being verbally bullied so the teachers and staff advised him to not make a reaction and to walk away. In December of 2002 the harassment problem…
