“One 12-ounce soda a day can increase your risk of heart attack by 30%” (Sugary Drinks Can Wreck Your Body! By Evan Cook). Is this really what people want? People dying from heart attacks is a real concern in the U.S., and one way to have a heart attack, is having too much sugar. One cause of consuming a lot of sugar is by drinking it, whether it be Gatorade, Rockstar, or even a vitamin water. Sugary drinks, amongst other things, contribute a large part to obesity and heart attack in America. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say “some 17 percent of kids and a third of adults are obese.” Obesity and heart disease are very much out of control in the United States, and one way to help lower the risk is to put warning labels on sugary drinks to warn customers about what they are putting in

Author Evan Cook writes in “Sugary Drinks Can Wreck Your Body!,” “It [sugar] can rot your teeth and turn your liver into a grotesque lump of scar tissue… Eating too much of it can lead to obesity and put you at risk for heart disease, diabetes, and so many other health problems.” Cook addresses this as a way of showing too much, or even a little sugar in your drinks, affects your health in intense ways. No one wants to feel the threat of heart disease looming over them, so the best choice is to not consume sugary drinks. Another effect is sugar can cause people’s livers harm, as Cook says. “When you chug down a bottle of soda, you send a truckload of fructose straight to your liver… Some of that fructose turns into fat,which can build up in your liver. The same things happens to alcoholics after years of drinking.” Most people would use this information and think about how sugary drinks affect their health, but how could they?     They say it's a ridiculous idea and that there is no need, but they just don't see the harm being put into their body. In the text, the author makes a clear statement that the labels won't help, and I can see why he says this, but he also states how obesity is not the best today. Still, he says that “bombarding soda drinkers with warning labels won't help.” He claims that the sugary drinks aren't the only source of obesity and this is true, but the other text states the same thing.     One scary fact that the film revealed is that doctors are now treating the first generation of children suffering from fatty liver disease. This disease is caused by eating too much sugar and it has recently come about. Does this mean more sugar based diseases will come? The goal this movie is trying to reach, is hopefully to convince enough people that something starts to change. For example, that doctors will start tracking sugar more often in people's diet and hopefully to trim the amount down. The movie's impact on people being affected by this is huge. People now realize how big this issue is and they are responding the right way. The movie did a good job with convincing people the truth is harsh in this situation. The movie talks about how much sugar Americans really eat on a daily basis. Moderation is the word the film used for average. The movie said, “Moderation is 6-9 tablespoons of sugar a day.
