Case Study Robin Hood “Strategic management consists of the analyses, decisions, and actions an organization undertakes in order to create and sustain competitive advantages” chapter 1 (Dress 2014)strategy directs the organization toward overall goals and objectives; includes multiple stakeholders in decision making; incorporates both short-term and long-term perspectives, recognizes trade-offs between efficiency and effectiveness.
What strategic problems does Robin Hood have?

Robin hood has many problems such as he needs money. Revenue is down, and expenses are rising. His organization is cracking and becoming less coherent. Robin hood needs to address some key issues to continue to maintain control and avoid detection of the growing organization. If everyone finds out what he is planning his organization is doomed. Should he expand from Sherwood Forest has it become too small to contain his operations or should he remain and optimize business? He could impose a transit tax, which would cause discontent among the people.
The Sheriff’s forces are growing and catching on to his operation. Should he kill the Sheriff?
Robin Hood needs to organizational communications and leadership to maintain control of his operation. Robin hood could accept the Barron’s offer to join in freeing the King Of course; there would be consequences to these decisions. Robin hood is facing the consequences of rapid growth. In his two years of reign, the organization grew from just a few outsiders to a strong local presence. Competitive strategy as we read in chapter 1 is about “sustaining a position in the industry. Growth implies that strategy has to be flexible enough to adapt. “(Dress 2014)

3. What is the role of the organizational leader as strategist and articulator of global goals? “The primary role of the organizational leader is to articulate vision, mission and strategic objectives” (Dress 2014). Robin Hood must be proactive to gain competitive advantage. Robin hood
