Course Name: Laboratory Oriented Project
Course No. : BITS C313
Duration: 3rd September 2012- 10th January 2013
Date of start: 03- 09- 2012
Title of the Report: Design and Performance Study of Aircraft Wing Materials using UTM ID No. / Name of the student: 2009A4PS269U / Shaatir Khanzada Discipline of Student: Mechanical
Name of the Project Supervisor: Dr. C. Periasamy
Keywords: Fibre Reinforced Polymer, Glass Fibre, Tensile Stress, Compressive Strength.
Abstract: This project aims to allow further implementation of fibre-reinforced composite materials in the airline industry. The project report initially gives a brief introduction on fibre/composite materials and the universal testing machine (UTM). A few materials with their composition, tests already conducted and a brief analysis is discussed. The final report also describes the step by step process of testing the glass fibre material used for compressive and tensile testing.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Firstly, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Dr. R.K Mittal, Director BPDC who has given us an opportunity to apply and understand our engineering concepts on this project
I would also like to thank Dr. C Periasamy, my project coordinator, for his motivation, support, guidance and encouragement throughout the course of this report. I would also like to appreciate the help of Dr. Karthikeyan, for his guidance throughout the lab testing.
