Studying abroad is one of the most exciting and challenging experience students usually have during their college years. It may be the first time a student will experience many thinks like live in a new different Culture, travel internationally, learning a foreign language. It will help them to do a makeover and give them the potential to live alone and do things independently. It provides them a new outlook and giving a new perspective on career.
For maximizing the potential value of study abroad, it’s necessary that students should make the decision to go and study abroad with a sense of intention, financial support and decide the type of program and location. Take the career decisions wisely due to the wide acceptance of impact of globalization and based on the new skills demanded and since it is a once in a life time experience.
The Career Connection
This is all about employers hiring students who are having international experience. Multinational Corporations and other firms place candidates who are having international experience. But they may stand out for few reasons. First seek what international employers seek in prospective employees and develop and strengthen the skills according to it. Candidates with international experience stand out for many reasons, like global market demand, increased adaptability, cross-cultural sensitivity, political views etc.

Deciding to Study Abroad
Student’s ability to interpret the value of study abroad experience to an employer will be easier if the decision to go abroad is linked to career goals.
The challenge to both study abroad and career advisors is to proactively assist the students to take full advantage of international education. Fit of a program with career or goals which are considered to be the options to study abroad.
• Collect the students – or alumni – who recently participated in the same program.
• Prepare a list of questions to review with a abroad advisor etc

    Have you ever dreamed of studying in other countries, traveling to cool places, meeting lots of different people, and picking up a language or two? In recent years, studying abroad has been popular as the world becomes globalization. A record said that "241,791 U.S. students went abroad for academic credit in 2006-07, up 8% from the previous year, and nearly 150% more than a decade earlier" (you can check it here). More and more students leave their own country to go abroad for their further education. They say that they can develop better with advanced facilities and teaching methods in those modern schools. By communicating with foreign students or staying a long time with them, a profitable experience is available to them. By the time they come back home, they are supposed to have a great advantage over the students at home in many ways. I quite agree with what they say. But as also an overseas student, one fact I would like to remind them of is that quite a number of overseas students stay abroad disappointed as they can not obtain what they hope for, let alone success. When they are abroad, they are helpless and have to be independent (I had exactly the same situation), which is quite contrary to what it is at home. They lack independence; they can not even tell right and wrong apart, and as a result some of them even commit crimes. Therefore, whether it is good or not to study abroad depends on the individual.
