The royal power is “inherent in a mother-son ‘royal duo’”3. “The monarchy itself involves not simply a King but rather a royal couple-the King and his mother”3. The mother is praised just as much as the King. She is given the same respect and has important duties similar to the King. The importance of the Queen mother is shown through the pendant since the King would keep it on his belt. In African society the mother of a King has more obligations than the mother in western culture. In Europe the mother of the king “has no clear-cut constitutionally delineated functions to perform in state politics.”3, they are just a figurehead. However in Africa the queen mother there roles are “ distinct” and necessary. A queen mother being titled “do not perform their duties publically as their male counterparts , but carry them out secretly in the palace”3. A king can not proceed with his succession unless there's an “installation of a King and his mother”3. The role of the mother is so important that her role has to be filled unless no one can take the…

The definition of the doctrine of precedent is lower courts are bound by the decisions of higher courts within the same judicial hierarchy if the facts are similar. For example, in south Australian there are three tiered or layered court system. The lower layer is Magistrate court; the Middle layer is District court and the upper layer is the Supreme Court. The highest court is the high court of Australia. So if a decision made by the Supreme Court, the Magistrate court has to follow. Moreover, the Doctrine of precedent consists of binding precedent and persuasive precedent. Binding precedent mean is that lower courts must follow higher court’s decisions when the fact is similar. Persuasive precedent means is that if decision is made by a different judicial hierarchy, lower courts do not have to follow the decision, but encourage following it.…

Maji Mazuri is a social economic development program that was created in 1984 by Wanjiku Kironyo and based in Nairobi, Kenya. The program was initially developed in order to help women and children in Mathare Valley, the second largest slum in East Africa. Wanjiku Kironyo who was a family marital therapist set up office in the Mathare Valley and began counselling women. The women she reached out to suffered from severe depression and other psychological syndromes caused by single parenthood and the struggles in this impoverished setting. In addition to counselling, she realized the women needed economic empowerment and began to help them organize into small economic groups, i.e. cooperatives which were a prelude to the Micro Enterprise networks that was later established by Maji Mazuri. Thus women who had been through suffering including abusive relationships and imprisonment had social and economic support groups where they were able to not only survive but prosper by getting strength from each other. In 1985, a Canadian woman called Rosalind committed herself to starting a small agency known as the Awareness Program. The purpose of that program was to create a cooperative inter-country partnership with Wanjiku’s office. In 1986, the Awareness Program secured grants from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and provided the start-up funds for Maji Mazuri Center. From these humble beginnings, Maji Mazuri Center’s projects have grown significantly. Initial funding was mainly received from the Awareness Program, but funds from other sources, supporters and well-wishers have been received over the years. The program is currently composed of six interrelated projects. The projects range from treating and equipping handicapped, abandoned or orphaned children and providing training for…
