Traditional and Nontraditional Paths to Success Nobody denies that our society has changed from time to time and each generation is different from each other. When my mom and dad started to study, they primary goal was to graduate from high school and go to a great college. My Mom had the chance to study at Zamorano, a great college and the best one for me. There she learned new and different skills needed to make it through the requirements Zamorano asked for, she successfully graduated and was one of the first woman to become an agricultural engineer. Beside the traditional path that my mom took, she also needed skills that helped achieve her first job and becoming more successful in life. In my opinion, you should take both paths, because both can help you a lot in life. Now the question is: “How do we know which path should we take?” Obviously, both paths are very different and everyone have the decision of which one should they take. Now generally speaking, people in our society will only choose one. The reason for this is that most people are only planning to finish their high school, and then searching for a job without caring for his college studies. Businesses are only hiring people who have experience in the area they are searching for, but if the person didn’t finish his college studies it’s probably that this person will not get hired. Let’s answer our next question: “Are people who do not follow society’s traditional paths to advancement more likely to be successful than those who do?” The answer to this question is that it doesn’t matter if you chose either one; you will only get success in life if you are disposed to do the things that are assigned to you and to develop a lot of new skills. The traditional path gives you success, because it led you to finish college. The nontraditional path helps you develop skills that can come in handy in your life. To conclude this essay, I could tell people that if you choose either one path, both will

Pliny demonstrates Arria’s courage very firmly in this passage through his tremendous choice of words, use of superlatives, tricolons, sentence structure, punctuation and religious symbolism. He illustrates in great depth how Arria had the ability to conceal her grief by putting on a brave face seemingly at the flick of a switch and hide the death of her son from her husband.…

There are several reasons readers should familiarize themselves with Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” (also known as “The Negro Is Your Brother”) from our textbook called, "writing arguments." First and most significantly, it was written during “a critical turning point in the struggle for African American civil rights” and is, therefore, this document is generally considered the most important written document of the modern civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Junior's famous is one of the best pieces of writing I have ever read because of its ability to expound on ideas and create a thorough argument as to why what he was doing was just. Throughout this piece Dr. King used rhetoric to persuade his reader and craft a convincing argument. The use of logos, ethos and pathos were all present as he attempted to win over a group of clergymen who challenged his right to protest by calling him an outsider and extremist. So, the letter is also a brilliant example of the art of persuasion as it masterfully analyzes its dual audience: the eight clergymen who reacted to King’s nonviolent activities, and King’s fellow demonstrators. And like all well-crafted persuasive writing, it employs all the rhetorical methods of appeal - the appeal to reason, character, emotion, and style (such as metaphor, simile and other reasoning).…

However it now has become a debate whether it is actually beneficial or non beneficial on applying to college. Such as a big percentage of students don't become successful after college and just end up in debt. Such as a majority of students think that a high school education is just enough for them to get by. This puts a lot of pressure on students to be competitive and continually having to be doing their best trying to be the ideal student. This gives another reason for students not going to college, as they feel they do not portray the idealistic student who meets the rigorous needs.…

Do you want money? If so, don’t go to college because you will be spending the next 10-20 years of your life paying off your student debt, stressing out and eating Ramen noodles every day. This is the dilemma that most high school graduates face: get a job with a high school diploma, invest in college and hope to get a better job with a college degree, go to trade school, join the military, or hope to God that your YouTube videos go viral and make you famous. Most students pick the college route, thinking that college graduates get better paying jobs, most of the time they do, but there are jobs, such as trade jobs, that require less education with great pay. However, traditional colleges are very important for some people and for others, it…

Teachers and parents do not need to push students towards college. It should be the high school graduates decisions.
