Fun and Educational Things To Do with Kids This Fall
Internetland: The days are getting so short, and your children are growing up so fast. Can you make time slow down? No, you can't, but you can make the best of the time you that have by making some great memories this fall. There are many fun things you can do with kids that are not only fun for them but fun for you too, as well as educational.

Some Ideas:

Baking is an excellent way to get in the kitchen with the kids and have some fun. Talk about their day at school while setting out all the ingredients. Scroll through many different recipes and allow your child to help narrow down the choices to something you can easily make together. Children can do the easy parts like pre-measuring out the dry ingredients or slicing butter into small pieces, just like you see it done on cooking shows! Make it special, wear aprons, even chef's hats, anything to add a little magic to your afternoon. This day will be gone tomorrow, but your child will have their memory paused on a moment in time when they were enjoying life to the fullest.

If baking is something you can't do because of food allergies or weight loss regimes, there are plenty of fun things to do with kids that are similar. Making clay ornaments for Christmas gifts, painting, then baking them is always a lot of fun. You can make little clay beads to string into necklaces and bracelets, picture frames for the family photo... the possibilities are endless and easily achievable after a fun trip to Hobby Lobby or Michael's craft stores.
Are there classes in my area that we can go to?

This is the time of year when people are thinking of making hand-made gifts for the holiday season. There are classes galore, many of them are geared for parent and child to attend, and you will usually come away with not only a new skill, but something gift worthy that very day! Look for classes that are age-appropriate. For smaller children, sculpting and painting are favorites, but older children might be interested in some

Another activity that takes place in the mornings would be an art activity. The children have had four birthday celebrations since I have been interning at the Rose Kindergarten. Before every birthday celebration the children create drawings for the birthday boy or girl with crayons that are in the shape of squares and very think cylinder shapes. What I love about the paper is how the edges are rounded. Theses drawings are all put together to create a book. The book is fastened together with the hand died and spun yarn that the lead teacher, Mary has created. A child weaves it though the holes to complete the gift. More gifts are given to the birthday child, which includes treasures that the class has found from the outdoors. The last gift…

When thinking of technology, many words spring to mind: innovative, fun, futuristic, essential. These positive words, however, do not encompass the whole of the issue of technology in the lives of young children. Technology, such as tablets, computers, smartphones, television, etc., has become so essential in life that it has been forgotten how to live without it, and it is this attitude that can be pushed onto the next generation of children. As soon as young children are able to grasp items, they are given a tablet, or put in front of a screen, instead of playing traditionally, with plush toys, imaginary play, or outside, in a sandpit, playing…

Blow Painting Provide paper plates, plastic spoons, several colors of slightly watered down tempera paints, and short lengths of drinking straws. Show children how to place a blob of paint on the paper and then blow through the drinking straw to scatter it to create designs. BE CAREFUL to show children how to blow out as if they are blowing bubbles, rather than sucking on the straw as they would if they were drinking something from it. Getting to Know Pigs Introduce children to facts about pigs with simple nonfiction books. Talk with children about where pigs usually live, what they like to eat, the sounds they…

Children today are growing up too fast. There is no denying it. What happened? When you were a child what did you do? Because I played with my friends, we climbed trees, made dens; laughed, got our clothes dirty, because as Persil says dirt is good. We coloured in and watched those silly little programmes that had no purpose on TV while eating our favourite ice-cream, half of it over our faces and our clothes, but we did not mind it was our childhood. Today's children are different. We played with Barbies while they are Barbies, high fashion was for our dolls not for us, we played with Tamagochies they have laptops, phones, iPods, iPads and much more. When we would be playing our computer games they are on Facebook. What does a seven year old actually do on Facebook?…
