strong willed learner
Reading “Dan as a Learner” is my life. But the confidents isn’t because I put my all in to an assignment. I would call it “me time” when I drift of in entertaining myself when I know I suppose to be focusing on my assignments. It is gratifying when I am doing and accomplishing them. Dan and I can be more successful by scheduling at time and setting an alarm. One of the learning patterns he should focus on using is Sequence. He can create a to-do list where he can fill his needs to stimulate his mind so he can not feel the need to seek out entertainment. Second would be Confluence learning pattern, just like the sports entertainment show and athletes, recognize the effort need to get where they are and apply that attitude toward school.
The learning patterns I actively use is Sequence and Precise. I open several windows with each link that contain the information and consistently check the rubric to make sure information provide is correct. “I am a strong-willed learner. I am my own team. I prefer to work alone so that I can control the plan, the ideas, the talk, the decisions, the process, and the outcomes. I lead from out in front. Sometimes others find it hard to follow my lead.”
Sequence 31 “I want to know if I am meeting the instructors or my team mates' expectations.” Precise 29 “I want complete and thorough explanations.” Technical 27 “I need to see the purpose of what I am doing.” Confluent 30 “I see situations very differently than others do.”

My personal learning style is doing. I learn best from the hands on approach of getting in to a topic or job and attempting to complete it on my own. This allows me to see my mistakes and not have them be prevented before they happen, which allows me to note the problem and fix it. I find it much harder to learn using concrete experience and reflective observation. The fact that both these styles are much harder for me to learn from effects my overall learning style because of how I learn, just watching someone else complete a task is not enough for me to learn by.…

Sequence: Sequence is something I did not realize that I use on a daily basis and how important it is to my daily life. When at work I would be lost and confused with out my daily checklist that I have set up to start my day. I tried to step out of my normal daily routine and checklist and became frustrated with the start of my day and was lost for most of the day. I can understand how this is a use as needed as I do not like to follow directions for a task. I sometimes feel that my idea or my schedule is better for a issue or given task. “What do you mean I have to follow these directions?” (Intentional Learning for College Success Page 82 Table 2.1: Sequence Pattern) Is something I ask myself on many different tasks and assignments, "I can do this my way and still get the job done.”…

When meeting a group of new students it is important to find out each student’s particular learning style, this is so I can meet the learning needs of each student individually. Learning styles are individual’s natural pattern of acquiring and processing information in learning situations. There are many models of learning styles David Kolbs, Peter Honey and Alan Mumford, Anthony Gregorc and Neil Flemings VAK are some of the most popular. Honey and Mumford suggests that “learners are a mixture of four styles Activist (likes to keep busy, new challenges) Pragmatist (likes practical situations), Theorist (needs time to take in information) and Reflector (thinks deeply about what they are learning)” (2006) These are assumed to be acquired preferences that are adaptable, either at will or through changed circumstances.…

How I learn as a learner may differ from how another student may learn. In taking the Learning Connections Inventory Assessment my scores are as follows: Sequence 31, Precision 34, Technical Reasoning 18 and Confluence 19. In the sequence pattern I find myself often making sure things are organized and in order. With precision I ensure that everything that I touch is on point and precise with no mistakes. In using technical reasoning I try to avoid it because assembling and building my own projects tend to be a great challenge for me. Lastly, confluence is a difficult challenge for me because I have a fear of taking risks because at times they may put you in an upsetting situation.…

    | I am a multi-sensory learner, so my learning strategy is to use the style that seems to fit at the time. If I am reading from a textbook, then I will read aloud and take notes while I read. I will then read the notes aloud and chart anything on the computer that needs to be charted. I would also look for opportunities to take breaks, to help staying attentive.…

After taking my LCI assessment I learned that I am a dynamic learner. A dynamic learner is a learner who uses one to two learning patterns as a use first. I have two use fist patterns, precision (26) and technical reasoning (30). On my other patterns I scored used a needed for confluent (22) and avoid for sequence (16). I use all my learning patterns in different ways throughout my everyday life. When I am at work I use the learning pattern sequence. For example, my district manager gives me tasks to complete by the end of the week. Instead of over working myself, I break the task down in to parts. I will get my batches done today and maybe clean the office the next day. I make sure I get everything done in a timely order. Precision is the learning pattern I use at home. At home I have many chores that has to be done before my husband gets home from work. My husband gets off pretty late so I waist most of my time on social networks and talking on the phone. In the back of my mind I am thinking I have enough time to get everything done, but time flies by so fast that I never accomplish my goals before my husband get home. As for technical reasoning, I utilize that learning pattern at work too. I work in a furniture store, and sometimes I get bored during the day. I will go around the store trying…
