Strengths And Weaknesses As A Writer

Over the quarter of this semester I have completed a total of three essays. Throughout my coursework I have been able to identify my strengths and weaknesses as a writer. Going through graded papers I have identified my strengths to be using sensory language well to convey a vivid picture, using proper verb tense, and organization of an overall paper. However, I frequently struggle with comma errors and using transitions to create cohesion throughout an essay.
My strong point as a writing is being able to use sensory language to convey a vivid picture. I received a no lower than a proficient score in all three essays. Through more frequent practice, I expect myself to further develop my abilities to earn more frequent mastery scores. I am able to stay in past or present tense throughout an entire essay. Over the course I have not yet received a score besides mastery. I am able to use sentences without using run ons and fragments. I also am able to use a variation of sentence lengths throughout an essay to provide cohesion and emphasis of ideas. I am able to construct a precise thesis and maintain focus in an essay. These strong points help create cohesion of my overall assignments.
I find it challenging to use transitions to link major sections of the text. Consequently, this hinders the flow of my essays. I also struggle with grammar throughout essays. I frequently make comma errors that further takes away cohesion. These struggles can be seen in all three of the past assignments. In the first assignment, it was evident that I struggle with topic sentences for my paragraphs. However, in the descriptive essay it can be seen that I improved, and in turn I was able to maintain focus throughout the
